“WOW”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

We did the 1 hour tour, and our guide was so knowledgeable, it was the most beautiful house, and the immediate gardens were gorgeous. A must see, if doing the Fort Rodd Hill tour, in the same vicinity.

“Yoga in the Park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2013

This is a beautiful gem in Colwood. Tucked away in the dense forest around the Royal Roads University only to open up through the gardens and lawns down to Esquimalt lagoon. If you are lucky with the weather you'll have a stunning view across the Juan the Fuca Straight. Especially early fall mornings can be magic around the castle.
We went there to take some yoga poses pictures for a book for Feel Good Yoga & Pilates and ended up spending hours in the gardens. The old large trees and solid rock walls creates a timeless ambiance. Highly recommended for any visit to the westshore.

“A pleasant walk”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

We recently visited Hatley and the gardens with friends and had a pleasant walk around the property. Luckily, we didn't have to pay to go through the gardens. Although there are a number of pretty flowers, they currently need a good clean up as there were lots of weeds, dead leaves and so on. The castle is an interesting looking building but we weren't able to get in - a building possibly of interest to some tv fans as it has represented the home of a couple of different tv series' families. It is worth a visit if you are in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit.

“A park for all seasons.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2013

40 minutes from Victoria along Hwy 1 will bring you to Colwood.
Royal Roads University have set up home here and teach world class courses. Come for Mothers Day and pay a 5 dollar car park fee and go in with the family for free and enjoy all the fun that they put on. Hatly Castle is steeped in History and the garden is very beautiful in all seasons. Acres of parkland, and go on the hikes that surround the park. Lovely under a full moon, or in the Fall with the leaves changing. Great place to find a tree to want to paint. Amazing cultured gardens to take your camera to. Can be reached by bus or along Gallopping Goose Trail. Good cafe for drink and snacks.

A peaceful, well manicured and interesting landscape to explore, beautiful grounds. The castle is impressive to see.
