“Ultimate relaxation”
Reviewed December 5, 2012

I admire Hundertwasser's architecture and was very pleased to find such a great combination - amazing buildings and outstanding thermal spa. All spa facilities are excellent and their variety will satisfy any taste. Ultimate relaxation! The best thing in my opinion is the absence of chlorine. That makes it completely different experience from many other places offering spa services but not the natural water sources. The room was comfortable, the food was very good with great variety and many organic choices. The staff was friendly and helpful. I wish I could go back there once a month or so.

We were amazed with the spa facilities. Secondly the hotel building itself. Hundertwasser design was just jaw dropping. Hotel provides professional and guest friendly services. We were satisfied with the quality of the food. It is truly a unique experience.

We are fans of the architect, otherwise this place would be outside our price range. It was a fantastic experience and the spa facilities exceeded our expectations. (We had only been to Budapest spas before). The food was very variable with 'in season' dishes and 'homemade' being very noteworthy, some of the rest being bland. We know because we tried a bit of everything! It was a lovely adventure. We were able to walk to the village and still use/experience nearly all the facilities on a one night stay by arriving at midday and working at leisure into the night and early in the morning. I wish everyone could have a day here once in their life.

Room Tip: We chose the cheapest option. This meant we did a lot of walking to and from the room. But it is a h...

The hotel and thermal bath resort was designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, a very playful architect and artist. We experienced a perfect service in the hotel and the restaurants. The food was delicious and very generous, the atmosphere in the hotel was just unique. The thermal baths are beyond imagination - just marvelous. The location of the hotel and the baths is in the midst of a green green landscape - you feel far away from everything. The staff ot the hotel is very friendly, helpful, and always at reach. Every evening we had a great jazz combo playing in the bar - perfect entertainment. Whenever you feel that you need a special treat, this is the place to go.

The first thing which strikes one here is the courtesy and service of the staff. This is the saving grace. Our double room was basic, there was a kettle but no coffee-maker and only a couple of packs of instant coffee and one tea bad. No whitener. There was no soap in the shower dispenser and there is no other provision so bring your own! The wardrobes have plenty of hanging space but very little shelf space. There is nowhere but the floor for your bathroom items. Hundertwasser thought higher stories need smaller windows but our second floor room had only a tiny window obstructed by a large tree so it was very dark. Bedroom furniture is minimalistic. The dining areas are adequate but the main dining room with the "inclusive" buffet is like a large warehouse. Again the table service was very good but the buffet disappointing. The cold plates were half empty, and the meat for the hot dishes piled up and kept warm. I tried some lamb which was horribly overcooked and to be honest i did not think any of the meats or fish were edible. Although the place stinks of fried fat from cooking on site, curiously it is actually all cooked in advance and then piled up and kept hot - ie dried out and ruined. At 8.45 pm there were virtually no deserts left and nothing was replenished. A light lunch the next day (extra in a cafè) was also rather disappointing. We then tried the a la carte and the service from Manuela was impeccable. This young lady knows her wines too! She gave thorough attention to all the diners. But again one sensed that the place is run for the benefit of the caterers. We were told we could not book a table for 8pm and the last one was for 7.30 This was nonsense as there were only three other diners in the entire restaurant all evening! But this is a management issue. In the event we were not rushed out and Manuela seemed happy to discuss the finer points of Styrian wine with us! The food was only average and my Maibock was again hopelessly overcooked. A steak was very good - but at €29 it should be! We liked the service and we went back again [If you eat a la carte you get a credit form your "cul de sac" :-)] The menu was the same and it is limited so that was a disappointment as I could not face the cardboard Maibock again. But I had the fish which was very good. we also ordered the most extravagant and decadent desert and there you began to see why the restaurant.is praised. But if they could find a savoury chef to match the standards of table service and the pudding chef they would be sorted. the spa facilities are much described by others and are thoroughly well run. My companion had massages which were described as excellent. There is no swimming pool which may be a disappointment to some. On Saturday we were refused entry at first as there was a wedding and the drive was blocked every few metres by ropes, and there as a long queue of cars. It appeared each was waiting for drinks and a chat. God knows the state of the drivers when they parked their cars later and I saw one drive into a pillar. A little later a brass band struck up right outside our window. We had not been warned of that! In fact it was a short if rather tuneless and unmelodious ceremony and the event had little real impact on the other guests except for the silly idea of stopping us entering the campus by car. Overall, I would go to see the Hundertwasser, go to the a la carte but avoid any red meat which is not cooked to order or it will be massacred. The fish was also a little overcooked but it survived. For the buffet unless you want to eat early expect to see only left overs and empty plates and some very tried meats indeed. Having gone once, I doubt you would go again.

It's not cheap, but walking inside this incredible hotel it is worth the price. Breakfast is ok and also the big buffet for dinner is very good. The location is great, on green austrian hills. You can take a walk in the big park trying the different pools or just realx.

Went with my girlfriend for 2 days. Immaculate service, nice rooms, huge variety of pools, treatments, nice saunas, plenty of running tracks nearby, very good food which is not always the case etc... In short a perfect 2 day holiday...

2 things which surprised me when arriving there. surprisingly few of the staff speak english so sometimes we had problems communicating but it was always solvable. Also if u like sauna be prepared to get fully un-dressed as that is the custom in austria.
