“Happy Holidays at Chateau de Villereglan”
Reviewed July 15, 2007

We stayed at the Chateau for 6 nights on a bed and breakfast basis, dinner was optional, and had dinner on 4 nights.

Our accommodation comprised of a bedroom with large seating area, complete with LCD screen, a separate dressing room and a large en suite shower room.

The suite was beautifully presented, very clean and tidy and was maintained that way throughout.

The garden area was very private and well laid out with a swimming pool, sunbeds, various patio areas, and a selection of seating areas both in and out of shade.

The owners Mischa and Isabel were extremely attentive, but at the same time gave you your own space.

The food was very good, with Mischa catering for ones individual tastes and there was a good selection of local wines, at very reasonable cost.

Away from the Chateau there are some lovely towns, mountain drives, beaches etc and the hosts were only too happy to recommend sites to visit and scenic routes.

As far as I am concerned the Chateau was a perfect way to spend a holiday with good accommodation, good food and drink, good surroudings, excellent hosts and all at a very reasonable price.

Spent 9 nights at this beautiful chateau in June.
After a very stressfull time we left for a much needed break and knew the minute we walked through the gates of this wonderfully renovated chataeu that we had made an excellent choice. The grounds and pool area are very relaxing and beautifully landscaped, just the sound of the swifts high above and of course the church bells( which you soon don't notice). Our suite was huge, luxurious and immaculate.
But the real delight of the holiday was to meet Isabelle & Mischa the owners, they certainly provided us with a truly attentitve & personal service, making this a very memorable holiday.
We enjoyed freshly prepared organic food cooked by Mischa in the lovely restaurant, accompanied by a delicious selection of local wine.
We will certainly be returning!

It was really worthed to be accomodated in Chateau de Villereglan.

Mischa and Isabelle took care of every detail and we were be delighted with their kindness, hospitality and willigness to help.
If you are travelling with children it is also a perfect place to stay, too.

Do not miss the dinner in the cosy restaurant. It is really price to quality optimum and you will enjoy a very relaxing mood.

In conclusion, we absolutely recommend Chateau de Villereglan if you are visiting Carcassonne and/or Cathars Castles.

Héctor and Fumie.

This property offers a choice of 5 different rooms in a beautifully renovated chateau near the remarkable city of Carcassone. The chateau is off the beaten path and offers the kind of character you dream of when visiting southern France. Surrounded by vineyards and a charming old world village you can truly relax and feel as though you have had an experience worth sharing when you return home.

We were a large party requiring 4 out of 5 of the available rooms. The rooms in the chateau are all unique, but each one shares several aspects. They are all beyond spacious with king size beds, sitting areas and lovely, modern, meticulously clean bathrooms.

The couple who own the chateau, Mischa and Isabelle, are perhaps the greatest highlight. Not only do they provide you with the warmest greeting upon arrival and a superior level of hospitality during your stay, they also offer suggestions on day trips and scenic routes, as well as gourmet meals in their restaurant, meals that like our accommodation were the most memorable of our 2 week trip.

The only warning to offer is that bells in the village where the chateau is situated ring every hour. The bells, if anything, add to the character of your stay and are far more tolerable than the city or hotel hallway noise you usually face in busy chain hotels. If you are a light sleeper you probably pack earplugs anyway, just don't let anything prevent you from experiencing this gem in France!

After all the hype of the Dan Brown books we decided to take a look at Carcassonne for ourselves but did not want to stay in tourist ville, so opted to stay 15 minutes outside the town itself. A very good choice in the circumstances as the town itself although impressive, was full of tourist buses!
The hotel we stayed at was lovely, freshly opened by a young Dutch couple who had spent the last year renovating this amazing old chateau. They had obviously lavished a lot of care on the house as the result was stunning. We stayed in the Orangerie which was set away from the house in a private corner of the garden looking out onto the pool. The gite itself was lovingly decorated with a gorgeous bedroom and huge bathroom and a private patio area perfect for evening drinks!
The food that Mischa provides every evening was delicious and could not be faulted in any way!
We had a lovely long weekend here, very quiet and peaceful (apart from the church bells!) I just hope that by posting this the world and his wife wont suddenly descend.... but if you do, say hi to their lovely friendly cat!
