We arrive to have red carpet thrown on the road. The waiters top traffic and I am invited to cut the ribbon prior to our group entering the restaurant. This restaurant can only be described as eccentric. The food was terrific. So many things hanging off ceilings, walls etc. We were serenaded to. This is an experience never forgotten.

This place is a hoot! Every inch of the walls, halls and ceiling are covered with pictures, musical instruments, and various collections. Many of the items are very old, and all are interesting. The pictures include many famous people who have eaten here. Even the bathrooms are highly (and unusually) decorated, so be sure to check them out. This place could easily seat hundreds, but you would never know it, as the rooms are not huge and it has a cozy-feeling arrangement. The food is excellent and plentiful and the wait staff is friendly and helpful. Music is provided by a violin and guitar player as well as a keyboard player, and that adds to the total experience. It is about 30 minutes outside Vienna, but well worth the trip.

This restaurant we visited as part of my recent Insight Vacations European tour and it was fantastic. The atmosphere inside was great with all the paraphernalia that adorned not only the walls and ceilings, but the toilets as well.My main course was very tasty and delicious and it was a huge serving, was not too impressed with desert, far too sickly sweet. For me though the highlight was the Spargel Festival ( White Asparagus) that was going on in the streets of this quaint town. While I waited for my fellow diners to finish, I wandered through the festival only to be greeted by a local cover band doing their best Midnight Oil impression.... Beds are Burning! What memories!!!

We came as a dinner tour with our group and everyone had a great evening. There was lots of music from a violinist, organ player and a couple of guitarists. Lots of dancing and a great 5 courses of traditional Viennese meals.

The restaurant is situated about 20 minutes drive from the centre of Vienna. If you want a great night out with good food and drinks, take a tour!

The amount of memorabilia is outstanding! The are many hallways and desperate rooms with thousands of items and photo's everywhere. We have seen many restaurants similar to this in our travels, but not to this extent. Excellent night and would go again if we had time in Vienna.
P.S... Make sure you spend a good deal of time looking around and don't miss the toilets.

It is just jaw-dropping! There are maybe 1000 different collections inside (each including dozens, hundreds of items, mind you!) dating back to the 1840s. Nothing is boring or ordinary to say the least. Let me put it this way, you get distracted by all the different items, pictures, furniture, objects, toys etc. and forget to eat the delicious food (Austrian specialties) on your plate. It's a 20-minute drive from the Vienna city center. It would be wise not to go with small children that cannot be controlled/stopped. Neither would I recommend asthmatic or allergic people to go there (although they would be missing a great experience) because of the dust that inevitably accumulates...
