“Good, but not really international standard”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

Hotel is an about 4 hour drive south of Hangzhou and an about 1 hour drive from Taizhou city.

Rooms are quite large, bathroom has a shower and a bathtub.

Electric plugs are next to the desk, but blocked by a WLAN router and a computer. You need to pull out one of them. Also there are no plugs (at least working ones) next to the bed. You need an extension cord of about 3 meters, if you need power next to the bed.

Rooms have carpets with the usual problem in China - dirt, plenty of dirt

Internet is LAN / WLAN based. There is a router in each room, so scan the WLAN, you find your room number starting with an 88... there is no need to log in and you can connect as many devices as you want. However the internet is slow. VPN works, but Skype and FaceTime only barely. In the early morning it is fast and nice to use, but who wants to get up at 5 AM?

Breakfast is simple, but OK. Even had some cheese available. Coffee was lousy. Better stick to tea. When I stayed there, there was no orange juice, just very sweet apple juice.

Beds are hard, very hard, extremely hard - actually normal for China.

And yes, it does help, if you speak Chinese. (even a only a little)

The good thing is that you can open the window.

The location is fantastic - with a lake (nice walk/run around it) and mountains right opposite. During the 3+ weeks I stayed there, I was quite happy with the helpfulness & courtesy of the staff. Admittedly my lack of Chinese-speaking abilities caused some minor issues, since there were only 2-3 among the staff who understood some English. But, this was not a big issue at all. The breakfast buffet was wide-ranging and very satisfying. There is a lack of other restaurants nearby and I had to depend mostly on the one Chinese restaurant within the hotel for lunch and dinner. The breakfast place is also open for dinner, but, it is pretty much the same food as in the breakfast and it is a pricey buffer for dinner. Skip it if you can! Since the hotel is located in the newer part of Linhai and not in the Old Town, there are not too many shopping or dining options. A quick cab ride will however take you to Old Town. The rooms in the hotel are clean and well-appointed. The upper floors have softer beds and a bit more expensive. The Executive floor (12th) is very quiet and has some desserts set up in the lounge at night. There is no fitness center or pool at this hotel. Another negative was the all-pervading smell of cigarette smoke - esp. in the elevators and some corridors. Though smoking is not allowed, some guests do light up and that's an issue. But, the rooms and the restaurants and the lobby were all smell-free. Check-in and check-out takes some time, especially if you don't know Chinese. Laundry service was excellent - give it before noon and everything is back by evening - even without specifying rush service. The rooms are serviced twice a day...awesome!! There are 100-odd channels on TV, but only 1 or 2 of them are in English. The Old Town as well as the Ancient Great Wall of Linhai are only 4-5 miles away. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to stay, while in Linhai.

I stayed in this hotel twice for business trip. The staff are helpful and informative. The rooms are clean and free internet which is an absolute advantage for travelers. The location is good as well, it is facing

The facilities are well equipped and in standard, although i don't have time to enjoy anything due to tight travelling schedule and hope to have spare time to enjoy it in the coming future.

The restaurant is so so and the buffet breakfast is not in big range, but no compliant while you're really in the middle of nowhere in such city.

Room Tip: You can see a clear sunrise if facing the lake view (weather permitted).

This is a huge hotel and was probaly only 10% occupied when we were there. This was business trip and if you don't speak Chinese then it could be a bit tricky. Lovely big rooms, opposite the lake and good position. The service in this hotel is very old China. Not a smile in sight, a thorough check of your room on check out (thus 10min delay). If locals book it for you it's very cheap indeed about half the advertised rate. Just very average in every category rather than good. Beds are like hardboard. Very Chinese.
