Stayed one night here on a business trip. The hotel came highly recommended and I have to say it didn't disappoint.

The setting is fantastic, right on the river and surrounded by vineyards. Mine was a business trip but the surrounding area has lots of charming little towns and villages and would make an interesting destination for a holiday.

The staff were very welcoming (and spoke English) and the rooms were fitted out to a very high standard.

Food in the restaurant was top notch and the local wines very enjoyable.

The cost was extremely reasonable and the hotel offers free wifi to residents (Hilton please note!).

If you're looking to stay in this neck of the woods then look no further.

Room Tip: Rooms are in the accommodation block and they all seem to be of the same high standard.

Very nice hotel, nice view from the rooms onto the Mosel river and staff very friendly. Breakfast was also very nice. We were a bit disappointed by the spa as the pool was not finished yet (but it should be by now). Would definitely go back again for a week-end break.

We were in this hotel for a few days.
We were very possitively surprise by the décoration of the rooms. Lot's of details, each room with his own design.
We were half board, the quality and the presentation of the dishes were high quality.
SPA is very pleasant and service if also of quality.
In the close surrounding, there are vety nice walks to do on the wineyards, and of course some testing ..
This is a great pleace to be for a few days in couple to relax and enjoy live in a luxury environment

We stayed at this hotel with my mother-in-law, 3 yr. old son, and my husband and me. The hotel were very helpful with the arrangements beforehand, via email, and I was very impressed with this. When we arrived, we were greeted by 'Heinz,' and shown to our rooms which were very clean and tidy. We were very hungry and went downstairs to the restaurant to eat. We had made reservations and did not expect to have any trouble. After waiting 15 minutes for our menus, they arrived. We did not receive water, or bread, and were not greeted until our menus arrived. My son was very hungry and after 1/2 hr. of waiting to order, my husband took him to the outside grill to get something to eat. My mother-in-law and I waited an additional 15 minutes, 45 min. in total, to order food but still not a single person bothered with us. The restaurant staff ignored us, walking by and helping others, but there were other patrons there who looked like they were waiting just like us. After speaking to 'Heinz,' my mother-in-law and I left and went to the outside grill to eat as we were terribly hungry by then. I am heavily pregnant and could not wait any longer. The restaurant manager was told of our problem and was most apologetic, and we received our food very quickly after moving outside to the grill area. 'Heinz' was very helpful in getting us our food immediately. She also put free drinks in our room and a small stuffed bear for our son as a way to say they were sorry for the trouble and we appreciated this.

This was not a good first impression of the restaurant and needless to say, this was the 'standard' of the service there. There never seemed to be enough staff, no one seemed particularly bothered about helping the patrons and we had to practically beg for coffee in the mornings

The rest of the stay was okay and there is a great kids playroom and play area attached to the hotel which was very helpful.

Our last night there, we decided to eat at the grill again as the food was very good and we were served quickly before as compared to the restaurant. We ordered 5 meals, making sure we pointed to the menu, etc. just in case we made a mistake when ordering (as our first language is English and our German is not very good). Everything seemed to be okay and the order was agreed by us and the waitress. We received our drinks about 15 minutes later, but no food (again). 45 minutes after we ordered the waitress came over to tell us one of the meals was unavailable-45 minutes later! We had brought our son here early enough to eat, 7:30 pm, so we could get him to bed at a decent hour for our long journey the next day and by this time he was hungry and cranky. 15 minutes more, and still no food (1 hr waiting in total) and I went to talk to 'Heinz' again. Thank goodness for her! I went up to her, at the reception desk, and told her again that we had been waiting for 1 hr. and asked if there was something wrong with us? We had already had this experience once, but twice? She came out immediately and spoke to the grill staff, who were again apologetic, and our food came soon afterwards-served by 'Heinz.' At this point we had refused to pay for this meal and were told to order anything else we wanted. By the time we finished it was 10 pm. Not very good. Let me just say that the food was very good, once we finally received it, by the food service was awful.

Let us just say again how great 'Heinz' was. If it hadn't been for her we wouldn't have known what to do. Her service was incredible and the saving grace of our stay. Regardless, we will never stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone either.

Stayed at the hotel for three nights in June 2008, together with our little son. We where so satisfied whith the hotel that we booked one more night. We had a room whith a balcony facing the river, which was really very nice. Service at the hotel was really great, food was good and surroundings beatiful. Playroom close to the breakfast area makes it possible for parents to enjoy their breakfast. Visited Cochem and Bernkastel-Kues - this can only be recommended!

My Son and I stayed in the “White Bear” on a drive from Luxembourg to Koblenz. The beauty of the Mössel River and its vineyards is unparalleled. The construction referred to earlier appears to be complete. We stayed in one of their new rooms (open 1 week). It was a ‘duplex’ with a living room downstairs. The hotel was delightful, and I have stayed in an amazing assortment of world-class hotels. The dinner and breakfast were tremendous. We did not try the heath spa, but it appeared of Golden Door quality. They had completed the new wing, a second beer garden and a fantastic play area for little kids (fur unsere kleinen Bären). The woodwork, decoration and craftsmanship were high quality. The only work in progress seems to be a bit of landscaping. We were the only Americans there and the only restaurant patrons not enthralled by the parade of river barges and boats passing the window. My son & I struggled with our German, ordered and THEN discovered that they have an English menu. I would suggest you ask for a room with a river view. This would be a great place to stop on a river voyage, but driving through the German River towns (with wonderful restaurants) makes you wonder why anyone would want to stay on the Autobahns!

The Weisser Baer ("White Bear"-there is actually a stuffed white bear in the lobby!) is nice little hotel, with up to date rooms and amenities, and a great location right on the Mosel river.

My room (109) was of nice size and fairly well appointed. Not great mind you, but still quite better than your average guest room. The single BIG window opened on the river.

Mulheim and the other towns are fairly quiet at night, especially off season, and I was glad to find the restaurant quite nice. I enjoyed some excellent meat and asparagus (in season!) and the service was very good.

The small bar, in an African theme, is comfy, but the iron stools are a little cumbersome. The big screen TV gets all sorts of programs unavailable in room, so just ask for the remote control!

There was some construction going on (a spa and wellness center is planned) and it was a bit disturbing. The traveler should check this out before booking.
