Having viewed this 250 year old property before the present owners renovated and converted what was nearly a derelict series of buildings we were amazed to find what now is a completely beautiful B&B in true Portuguese style. The interior accomodation is spacious and first class, the grounds and pool an added attraction on top of which you have a couple who together with their daughter put their full efforts into making your welcome and stay the best you could ever expect.

I originally wanted accomodation in Sintra but with 4 people (2 adults, 2 young children) I was unable to find something spacious enough at a certain standard without spending a fortune. Luckily I spotted the reviews for this wonderful quinta which is a reasonable distance from Sintra. With our limited mobility we rented a car and could easily make it to Sintra in about 15 minutes. We also drove to the coast in around 30 minutes.

Staying at the Quinta was a great choice. While we had to drive into Sintra for meals (vegetarian options are quite limited out of cities) the space and hospitality that the Quinta afforded more than made up for this. We stayed in the which was very large and comfortable, modern yet traditionally stylish. The pool was not an option for us unfortunately as we ran into some cool and rainy weather but looked inviting.

Tony, Penny, and Charlotte were also very inviting - sharing parts of their home, and their pets with us. Our girls were enchanted and loved interacting with them. They went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed and enjoyed our stay despite the weather.

I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone wanting a balance of relaxing and siteseeing, spacious and attractive rooms at a good price, and a personal touch.

We chose Quinta do Scoto for its location. The suites are large and well appointed.Great high ceilings which I am sure will keep cool in the summer. The fridge is well stocked with goodies(complimentary). The bottle of wine again complimentry just the way to sart unwinding after a days driving.Basket of fresh fruit on the table is just more than you would expect from a B &B
Very warm welcome from Tony,Penny and their daughter Charlotte who took pride a pleasure showing us around the Quinta and all its facilities.
Two big double beds in our suite with comfortable matrices and lovely linen
The instrucions for finding the quinta are very good-do not deviate (download from the website)
Breakfast taken in the main house with fresh orange juice and just baked bread rolls from the bakery nearby with homemade jams, yoghurts, local cheeses and hams-even smoked Salmon
Although it is out of Sintra you are very near to all the most stunning historic sites.

We found Quinta do Scoto a very relaxing place to stay. Tony & Penny looked after us well and breakfast was enough to see us through the day. Bearing in mind the Pound Euro exchange rate, we thought that eating out was affordable varying between £10 and £15 per person inclusive of wine and a pudding. The house and barn have been sympathetically restored preserving much of the original old world charm - this is not a place of modern furnishing, TV and Radio as it has been designed to encourage holiday escape. Games, books and DVD's are available in the guest lounge.

After spending a month touring this was our last sop before making our way home. My wife and I were traveling with another couple and it was our good fortune to get to stay at the Quinta do Scoto. We were delighted with the accommodations and the layed back easy manner in which Tony and Penny made us feel at home immediately upon our arrival. We shared a huge suite with our friends which had two bed rooms and a single wash room. The one bedroom was particularly large which afforded space to socialize without any difficulty. The room was sparkling clean, very comfortable with patio doors that exited out onto a very nice courtyard with a swimming pool. We had the chance to view some of the other rooms in the complex where our room was and all of them were very well done and all looked every bit as comfortable as the room we were in.

Tony and Penny were very friendly and helpful during our stay providing directions to various locations and just generally making us feel right at home. We so enjoyed their company that we spent some time socialising with them which we truly enjoyed with one of the evenings being a night out for supper together.

While we had a little trouble finding this location directions were only as far away as a phone call or a stop at a local business.

The location is excellent as it is only a short walk to the local train station which can take you to Sintra or Lisbon and the fares a very reasonable.

Our breakfasts were excellent , tasty and certainly meant all of our needs with with fresh breads fruit, cereal, jams and other fare which more than meant our needs.

In short this is top notch accommodation for a very reasonable price that will not disappoint and one that I have spoke quite fondly of to my friends since our return to Canada and one that I would highly recommend.

Quinta do Scoto is an amazing place to spend a few days doing exactly nothing but relaxing!
Me and my friends decided to go there for the New Year's Eve and had a wonderful time, as well as we got our deserved rest on Jan 1st.
The rooms are incredibly spacious, not to mention the bathroom in the Adega Suite, where we stayed. As the name mentions, the suite used to be the place where the grapes were pressed to produce wine, and the bathtub is exactly the "Lagar", refurbished as both shower and deep tub. Amazing.
I was only sorry that in December we could not enjoy the pool, but that's why we're planning to go back in the Summer time!
Notice to everyone - as the Quinta defends its image of a relaxation place, there is no TV whatsoever! There's a common room where there a plasma and DVD's for you to watch if you wish. A different, but very good concept.

Going to the Lisbon area?

Our advice - treat yourself to a stay at the Quinta do Scoto!

On our arrival, Penny and Tony gave us a genuinely warm welcome, and their top priority was clear - to do everything they could to help us enjoy our stay.

This is a new renovation, completed by Penny and Tony to a very high standard and in sympathy with the Quinta. The rooms are truly spacious and individual with very high ceilings. They are beautifully dressed and combine Portuguese antique furniture with all modern conveniences to give a real feeling of luxury. Add to that a welcome bottle of wine, free hot and cold drinks in the rooms and a delicious breakfast with plenty of choice - what more could you ask?

Sadly, being October, we didn't get to use the pool, but it looked very inviting for a return trip in warmer weather.

There was loads to explore in the area - more than we could fit into our short stay. Sintra with its old town, palaces and monastery, hills to be walked in the National Park area, and the train ride into Lisbon is easy from the local station. Also, there are a number of golf clubs to try in the area which we noted for a future visit.

Definitely somewhere to go back to.
