Quinta do Scoto is well situated for visits to the area around Lisbon. An old but comprehensively updated farm property on acreage, it's close to the railway station and a convenient base for a stay of several nights. We had a car, essential to reach some of the sights in the area around Sintra, outside Lisbon.
The Sr. Miguel suite is spacious, comfortable and quiet, with French doors to the poolside patio. The bathroom was the nicest we had during this 16-day trip to Spain and Portugal, which included stays at 5* hotels. We received a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival to wash away the dust. Breakfast was outstanding, with a wide choice of meats, cheeses, cereal, fruit and farm-fresh boiled eggs. A reasonable local restaurant for dinner is about a 10-minute walk.
Hosts Tony and Penny go the extra mile to ensure guests get the most from their stay. They exchanged e-mails with me after receiving our booking to offer information and directions to the Quinta. They spent time with us on arrival to ensure we understood the local environment and the next morning recommended we visit places we would otherwise have missed.
