gave the course another chance this year. never again in my life!
there's just mud and water on the fairways, no grass, everything looks like it has been abandoned. Playing golf is simply impossible.
The management will give excuses like "it has never rained that much", but the reality is that they are not able, or have not enough money, to keep the course in a decent condition.

Greens are pretty decent though, but the holes are not properly cut and leveled, which makes impossible to hole putts, even if you are a tour pro.

Better to move a few km and play one of the other many nice courses present in the area, like Quinta da Marinha, Oitavos etc. (unfortunately Campo Real is currently closed)

The lisbon area have recived a record breaking amount of rain In 2013 and the course was near unplayable, except for the greens.
I have played it on several previous occations and know how good it is, so this time around it was a let down, but i understand that There was nothing the superintendant could with all the rain.

I totally agree with the other negative reviews.
I tried the course again, after about one year, and the conditions are even worse!

Not only fairways are a mud bath, but there is very little grass left, so it doesn't get much better when it's dry.
I've been told that the course manager, in an attempt to solve the drainage problem, has been covering the fairways with layers after layers of sand all over the year.
Dude, sanding is good if done properly! Too much sand and not only you make the ground even muddier, but you also kill the grass!!! Especially rye grass!!!

Their excuse is that it has fallen an "unusual" amount of rain this winter. I'm wondering if in Portugal it rains only in Penha Longa?
Move just a few kilometers and you will find beautiful courses, like Oitavos, Quinta da Marinha, Praya del Rey, Aroeira etc. Some of them are indeed wet, but still fun to play.

Penha Longa golf course is a real disaster. It could be a gem of a golf, but it's ruined by the incompetent people who manage it.

Atlantico cource was in practice unplayable today. Almost everyone played Monastery (9 holes) or got money back. Also Monastery was wet and muddy. We played Oitavus last week and it had excellent conditions.
