delicious food at an amazing price, and a warm and genuine welcome. A word of warning, beware the 'communion' - unless you like 90% proof cocktails!!!

We went for a drive and ended up in Moncenisio, a lovely little mountain village near a picturesque lake. We had a look round for somewhere to eat and as soon as I saw the beautiful grey stone building I knew it would be a great place and how right I was. Such a cosy little place. It was a Sunday and there was a set menu (I don't know if there's normally a menu). We started with three starters, cured meats, a special polenta dish with sausage in a tomato sauce as well as polenta with melted mountain cheese and finished with a delicate apple tart. All this plus wine, liqueur and "the communion" came to 25 euros each which is really very reasonable. I don't want to spoil the "communion" surprise but let me just say that my husband is still trying to get the feeling back in the roof of his mouth :-) Hark my words and choose the flambé version! Thanks to Laura for her cooking and to Marco for being such a good host (I'm the English woman who had two communions ;-)
