The Maison Gorey was rather tricky to find; it was not sign-posted and we ended up driving around the one way system twice before we decided to ask a passer-by for help. I would advise either print off instructions from airport to hotel before travelling, or take your TomTom!

First impressions? We have a parking space! Hotel was bigger than I thought it would be - with a retro-chic interior. Staff were very helpful in showing us to our room and pointing out the bar, restaurant and TV/Lounge room (which was stacked with VHS tapes!). Unfortunately, we didn't get to eat here, but the menu looked tasty.

On entering our room we were met with sweltering heat - only to realise that the heating was on! With it being 25oC PLUS outside we were slightly confused by this! My partner went downstairs to ask whether this could be turned off - he was told that the heating was only off between the hours of 6 and 9...very strange! Other things about the room: bathroom door didn't close properly and mattress felt like it was made of wood... TV was new and worked fine, lovely big dressing table, quite a powerful little hairdryer, room and bathroom were very clean and lots of space to hang up clothes, which was handy.

The hotel had a strange, quirky, retro feel to it that we both found amusing; we kept expecting Basil Fawlty to appear at our door! Cannot fault the friendliness of staff though, nor the cleanliness of the room. A good, reasonably priced hotel to stop over in.

Room Tip: Would be a good idea to take a sleeping facemask with you if you're a light sleeper, as the sunl...

The hotel Maison Gorey hotel is perfect for young family due to it's proximity to the fantastic beach , being only about 500 yards away. Soft golden sand, very shallow water at high tide and toilets that shame the rest of the UK. We went as a surprise for my partner and I have to say that the hotel staff could not do enough for us, very friendly and helpful.

However, it should be mentioned that the hotel could do with some modernization, the bathroom in our room was out of the 70's and the carpet was a tadge threadbare, but despite this, this is a fantastic little hotel with excellent food and in a superb location.

I have recommended the hotel to several friends, and I can give it no higher recommendation.

Room Tip: ask for a room at the back of the hotel as the front was a bit noisy first thing in the morning...

This was our first visit to Jersey. We flew from Southend airport and the flight was approx 40 mins. We stayed in a double room 13-15 July and travelled with hand luggage only. Maison Gorey is about a 25 min drive from the airport. The hotel is larger than we expected. There is parking outside on the forecourt of the hotel for about 7 cars. I believe there are 25 rooms. We had no trouble parking here. The hotel has a large foyer, a very big bar with sofas, pool table, satellite TV and a dart board, a large restaurant downstairs and a wide sweeping staircase to the upper floors. It did remind me of an old fashioned family hotel somewhat like fawlty towers. But, that said, it is run like an old fashioned family hotel, which is lovely. Isabell welcomed us and had all our booking details to hand. She explained that breakfast was 8.30 - 10.30 (very civilised) and gave us our room key and also a main entrance door key. She was warm and very friendly. The hotel is very clean and well kept albeit dated and a little tired looking. Our room (3) was at the back, the view was of a make shift carpark / back entrance sandy road. Not an inspiring view but we didn't come to Jersey to stay in our room so not really a problem. The room was large and airy and had a double bed, TV, ensuite shower (plenty of hot water), toiletries, hairdryer and tea and coffee making facilities. there were loads of T-Bags which is a big bonus point for me! The decor is very dated and a little wallpaper peeling here and there but even so it was very clean. We booked room only on a special deal. The breakfast cost £6 and was excellent value. Our table was laid and waiting for us. There was fruit juice / cereal/ yoghurt / prunes / fresh fruit salad to help yourself to and then the full english/ veggy english or egg on toast to order from the menu, along with tea and coffee. We were served quickly and everything was fresh and plentiful. The full English was lovely. brilliant value for £6!
We got a good couple of nights sleep and enjoyed the hospitalitiy and comfy feel of this hotel. We did not eat dinner in the hotel but there was an excellent choice on both the nights we were there and a set menu for £15.
This hotel socres 100% for effort and service. They really have got that side of things right. If I were to suggest anychanges it maybe just needs a bit of tarting up./ other than that it's perfect.

When we first arrived at this place we was pleasently suprised. The owners, and the staff were fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel and rooms were spotless. The food was out of this world, as was the service. The friendliness and helpfulness was above expected. Reccomend this hotel to all! Can we also thank Isabelle, Ricky and staff for a wonderful stay, and we will be back shortly. Miss Patricia Grove.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of May 2012 and had a great holiday. What made our holiday was two things the hotel and the lovely weather. We stayed at the Maison Gorey 3 years ago when it was under different management and enjoyed our stay, but under the new management the hotel is even better. Ricky and Isabel are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Roberto the waiter is one of the best waiters I have ever encountered. As regards to the rooms - they are very clean and nicely furnished and the bed was very comfortable. Lastly, the food was really good - we were booked for breakfast only but ended up eating in the hotel nearly every night because the food was so good.

We arrived at Maison Gorey after 9pm after a delayed flight from Gatwick - despite the fact that the restaurant had closed at 9pm, Isabella was extremely accommodating in welcoming us for dinner, and offering a full a la carte menu, with no sign of being inconvenienced! Throughout our stay, she has been helpful and friendly - the staff in the restaurant (Roberto specifically) have been extremely competent and polite, making this a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The fact that they also managed to arrange for glorious weather has been a bonus!!!
