Diego, was Very knowledgable of the water birding trip we took. We went out on the 6 am boat and were able to catch a number of early birds, like hawks, egrets, herons, and a boat billed heron which was a rare sighting, Rosetta spoon bill, tiger heron, laughing hawk, turkey vulture. Of course the pink flamingos were fabulous and plentiful.

Rio Lagartos is a quaint little fishing village right on the water. If you like fishing tours Diego is great for that as well as my husband found out out by catching his first Tarpon.

Dealing with Diego was easy and efficient. Paying with pay pal or cc is easy. He was on time for both tours.

One suggestion when you go, is take the early tour. When we came back the birds were no longer there for the 9 o'clock tour. Also take water or drinks with you as none is provided.

Highly recommend him, he even sent us photos he had taken.

Thank tdenver

This was a good experience with a good guide. We left rio largatos in hte monring and slowly lailed through the mangrove. got good information on the brids and was able to see a crocodille on the way. The flamingoes were beautify and on the return we got to swim in a hyper-saline channel and got the local sun-screen treatment with mud. A good experience for the entire family.

We used the services of Rio Lagartos Adventures when we toured Yucatan with members of our photoclub in Belgium. We spent 3 nights at Diego's bed and breakfast, a few minutes walking from the restaurant where also the boattrips leave. The guides were great. Not only did they know where to find the flamingos and other birds, but they also perfectly understood the needs of nature photographers and adapted the tours to give us the chance of photographing under the best light conditions. After the tour, we used to eat at Diego's restaurant; a limited menu, mainly for fish lovers of course, but excellent and ... fresh. The fish on our dish was still swimming an hour before we ate it ! I can recommend this organization to anybody who wants to see, photograph or film water birds. Thanks Diego

We have visited Rio Lagartos and Diego was our choice for the local guide based on the tripadvisor reviews. We were pleased with the complex information provided in his website, also the accomodation in his Posada. We did a boat trip for birds in the lagoon, but the high tide forced us to finish earlier than expected. So Diego took us on a followupo around the village to check the marshes for waders, ducks, flamingos and raptors. The whole trip was very nice and we saw a great bunch of species. I especially liked the 10 different heron species. The only disadvantega of the trip was the weather which prevented us to do the night trip for crocodiles. Fortunatelly we saw one int eh fresh water spring. I will recommend everybody to come to Rio Lagartos and choose Diego as a guide. Thanks. Martin

We spent a couple of hours touring Rio Largartos and seeing the wildlife and numerous flamingos. The scenery was beautiful and our guide spotted several alligators hiding in the mangroves which was fun to see. We also got out and floated in the salt ponds and also got a Mayan mud bath out of it as well. It was a long day trip from Playa Del Carmen but well worth the effort. We used Mayans' Explorers as our guides and everything went very smoothly.
