The Hotel California is an interesting place. When you check in mid-afternoon you really wonder what you have got yourself into as the lounge and bar area are rather dimly lit and are not somewhere you would want to sit and have a coffee at that time of day.

All of the rooms are music/artist themed. We stayed in Janice Joplin, rather pleased it wasnt The Grateful Dead.....

Our room was ...themed... So when you enter the room you get a 3 minute blast of which ever star your room is a tribute to. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable. We would recommend it because it is not over the bar/club area which livens up around 10 most evenings.

The bar /club area is good fun.

We were in Champoluc to ski and the hotel is well located between Frachey and the village of Champoluc. 5 mins either side by car. There is a big private car park.

The ski/boot room is almost non existent - really just a passage, and your boots will be as cold and wet in the morning as when you take them off.

The staff were very helpful, but the hotel is really only B&B

Room Tip: Janice Joplin is a good quiet corner room

we stayed 3 nights at the hotel. was clean and comfortable. the rooms had temperature control, although is set at 20 so never needed to change. tv only had 5 channels (non english) storage ok, shower hot enough.Breakfast was cereal, croissant ham cheese etc.
pretty basic but did the job.
disco no longer runs in basement. big bar area, pool table and darts.restaurant was ok, inexpensive.
the rooms are themed with steror playing american classic.
the hotel is about 10 mins walk to main gondola.(in town)
we booked with ski-2.
they were fnatastic.
they picked us up from turin airport, and 90 mins drive to champuloc.
they dropped us off at hotel and took and ski and boots to the office in town.
after getting ready they came and picked us up and gave us ski pass andshowed us where ski storage was(under main gondola)(included in price).
having caught 7am flight i was on the piste at 1pm local time.
ski-2 booked restaurants for our evening meals as said would be busy for school half term.included in our price was lunch vouchers, this got you a bowl of pasta and drink.
the mountain restaurants were a lot cheaper than other european resorts.

champuloc is a small village with a lot of charm which is somewhat lost in the more mordern trendy resorts. nightlife and apres ski seemed limited though.
this is very much an intemediate ski resort with great long red runs and some great black.
overall i would stay here again as i am more into full day skiing and nice meal at the end of the day.
i skiied the whole linked area in our 3.5 days (not satalite villages)
