“If you love butterflies, this is a must”

On a cold day sitting on a bench in this tropical environment and all these colorful creatures are sway by - absolutely lovely.
The zoo with night-animals is interesting - once you get used to the smell ;-)

“Great day with the family”
Reviewed May 24, 2012

This is the ideal day trip to do with children. All age groups will enjoy seeing the large variety of plants, butterflies and other tropical animals such as sloths... And especially in winter it is a great way to enjoy some of that tropical weather. There is also a playground for summer time. There is a place to keep your dog if you bring your dog.

“More than just butterflies!”
Reviewed May 16, 2012

Went here with some grown-up friends, because we had to be in the area and the weather was too bad to do something else. We really enjoyed the park, it was larger than we thought and we spent about 3 hours there. You will not only see butterflies, but loads of other animals as well: birds, goats, turtles, spiders, rodents etc. Only the nocturama smelt very very foul, I don't know if there were dead animals lying around or something but the smell was almost unbearable.

The play- and picknick area make Papiliorama ideal for families, but for babies the humidity might be uncomfortable. I think it is most interesting for 2-10 year olds, and half a day should be enough to see everything and explore the playground.

“A very nice place for Nature lovers...”
Reviewed April 1, 2012

The place has a very well planned setting of what you are to see and where. So there's a good amount of plannnign done on the things you will be seeing.
the entrance fee is quite minimal for the work that the place has gone through for sucha quality of experience. The tropical rainforest area is a wonderful place with butterflies buzzing around anywhere you see. there are parakeets and hummingbirds too, of which the latter are too hard to find. there is adequate space for leaving your jackets outside. there is another rainforest arrangement where you could find a lot of tropical birds, plants, trees. there is an area for the children to play and a lot of space for you to bring your lunch and enjoy together as a family.
Typically it may take about 4 hours to look through the entire facility.
Take you camera and if interested in wildlife photography, take a good range of lenses...lenses with macro capability and lenses upto 250mm range would be enough.

it is a bit far fromthe train station. Unless you have a car, you may have to walk atleast 3 kms from the Kerzers main station. There is a station specific to Papiliorama, but we came to know that only after we got down at Kerzers. No one informed that there is a station specific to it.
The Nocturama is a bit scary. not for people afraid of bats.

“Great Experience”
Reviewed February 2, 2012

This was a very nice place to visit and spend a couple of hours. Two areas here - one with natural daylight, the other with perpetual night time. Both areas are unique and different and very interesting. The butterflies are everywhere, and beautiful. The hatchery of cocoons was fascinating - watching a few the little guys wiggling around fighting to get out. The place is a botanic garden which hosts all these butterflies and caterpillars. The other area is for nocturnal creatures. This place takes a few minutes for your eyes to adjust to, but once you do, there are some interesting nocturnal creatures to be seen in their natural habitat. My only complaint was the bats flying around you nearly all of the time. And since it is so dark in there, your eyes never can really adjust to see perfectly. So, you get blurry flashes of bats racing around you, sometimes feeling the wind of their wings on your face. Regardless, it by no means reined the experience. This place is worth another trip next time I am in the area.
