We have just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel and enjoyed the experience thoroughly.

The rooms (we stayed in a 'contemplative' room) are compact, but interesting and modernist in style with expansive views of Lyon and the wonderful surrounding landscape into the distance. Nice touches such as the unlimited free soft drinks in big retro fridges on each level of the hotel and the giant TVs in the rooms and enclosed balconies stand this hotel ahead of many others in it's price range in my opinion.

The general interior design of the hotel is quirky ('school' themed) with little details and touches everywhere that made us smile. The pool deck (although small for the size of the hotel) was also a wonderful spot to relax - and with a phenomenal view that pictures simply can't do justice to. We also found the water temperature to be spot on.

Maybe some things have been addressed since some other reviewers have stayed at the hotel, as I also found both the reception staff and those working in the restaurant to be both professional and charming in all respects.

The food experience was also really enjoyable. I believe that the hotel makes their dining 'concept' quite clear in their marketing - they present a 'set menu' each evening, with choice of mains and a set menu with no choice on Sundays. In my opinion the food was inventive and enjoyable though, and partnered with a great wine list so we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and it felt like something a little bit different. On warm nights they also serve out on the balcony surrounding the indoor part of the restaurant, which couldn't have been a more lovely setting for dinner. If choosing from a full menu is more your 'thing' however, we also dined at the nearby 'haut de la colline' restaurant one night (only 2 minutes walk away) which was also good. Breakfast is extra (13 euros per person) and was fine with plenty of choice.

The location is peaceful and picturesque in a charming mountainous outer suburb of Lyon. Although it's a lovely place to stay in it's own right, I would hesitate to stay here if the main objective of my trip was to spend most of my time going in Lyon city centre. It's perfect for a relaxed trip into Lyon during the day for sightseeing etc. and then an enjoyable evening back in Saint Cyr. itself, but it's a little bit far away from the action in the centre of Lyon to make the trip in and out twice a day. With a car though, it's a great place to base yourself for a few days - also well placed for a drive out into the Beaujolais region's picturesque villages to the North..

Rooms are very basic, but kind of trendy. We had an ant problem - they were everywhere and got all through our bags (and baby food). The staff changed our room, but we just had the same problem again.
The pool is nice, but was a little chilly.
Food average. We are in the restaurant two nights in a row and the meal was exactly the same.

The setting is beautiful, with a great view over Lyon, but cuisine was disappointing. It's very pricy for what you get : expect 50 euros, including wine. The wine selection is small but well done and prices are very reasonnable. Produce are perfect quality and fresh. You are not able to choose first course and desserts, but the selection of main courses is good. First course was quite weak as you don't expect chicken liver paté in this price range as the only option. Main course was very good, even if pork could be serve cooked or pink but not raw inside. Desserts where good but very rich with cream and butter pastries.

We have been there with family 2 adults and 2 kids from friday untill the monday morning. First night perfect food and food. Pricy but it is good food.

In the weekend the service in restaurant or bar was below level. It was like there was no maitre d hotel. It was like the staff was replaced by jobstudents only. Even the sunday we left the table because nobody was paying attention too us. No coffee was offered.

Also in the day time a duvel was served in a stella glass and it toke time because the girl was new and not able to cope with the stress.

In room 60 there was a continious sound of the hoot passing the room.

Room very neat and ok.

I would give for the food 4 stars but because of the service of the staff. Nice location

Room Tip: Room 60 (family room) has the sound of the hoot.

While a little bit off the Autoroute du Soleil, this place is worth the detour for its fantastic location and excellent dinner/bed&breakfast deal. The restaurant is perched on the top of a mountain overlooking the Rhone valley and serves an excellent 4 course dinner (included in the overnight rate).
