this place is very relaxing and friendly. although once in a while there are guests coming over from the hostels partner hostel in leon to spend a day at the beach, we still enjoyed a good atmosphere without too much party. unfortunately, we didn't know about their shuttle service from leon, but it's available for anyone who wants to book a room at their beach hostel.
unfortunately, the place is a little remote - it's a good 20min walk to the village centre, and there is no internet access. it is also possible that the water supply sets out once in a while. but they have a really nice pool, which is cleaned and maintained regularly.
surfing has potential asa the swell comes in - however, the real surf spot is supposed to be close to the centre of the village, thus a little further away (too far for us to walk with surfboards).
We can definitely recommend this place!

I recently stayed a week at the Bigfoot beach house in Las Penitas and have nothing but great things to stay about it. After driving down from San Diego and staying in many places, it's great to find owners that make you feel so welcome. The vibe was consistently great here. You couldn`t help but make friends with the staff, and I mean everyone on the staff. The food was very good and the drinks as well, (you have to try the Caiprinika). The location is perfect as it is on the beach and close to anything that Las Penitas has to offer.

From the gracious owners to the cooks, to the security, everyone was wonderful in providing a great place to stay. If you are going to Las Penitas and want somewhere that is well taken care of, full of friendly people, and great food and drinks, then you have to come to the Bigfoot Beach House.

I visited the beach house and had a great time, It's Soooo relaxing. Hammocks, palm trees, pool, great rooms, and right in front of the pacific ocean. Cleo, is a great host, the food and drinks and the atmosphere is amazing. After trying out volcano boarding you can go to the beach house and try some surfing or just relax by the pool with a cold TONA { beer} Big Foot, keep up the great job! I will definitely go back.

Room Tip: There are private rooms, and a small dorm away from any kind of noise so you can get a good night sleep.
