Multiple fantastic experiences, nice staff, nice owner, great barbecue, good prices. We stayed with 4 people and two of our dogs in the eco-cabaña and was great eperience. my dogs know the way through the place and are also very welcome

Room Tip: if you do not mind low standards, the eco cabin is a very good choice!

I come and have diner at the Barca de Oro every year when staying at Las Penitas. I always ask Sandra the owner if she has fresh fish from the Estrero de San juan. When she does, I am in. They prepare it very well and the portions are generous. Do not miss it if you are around, you might also have the chance to come across the fishermen bringing some incredible cach to Sandra. Have your camera ready.

The rooms are simple and felt a bit old. But as long as you just sleep there and relax in the backyard you have it all. The garden/restaurant could have been so much more, with a small touch but it's nice. It is located right at the beach. The fish in the restaurant is amazing!

I arrived with a group of 7 Pax so it was not easy to find something en Las Playas Penitas. We had rooms and Banboo cabañas . The bamboo huts are basic with a real basic restroom . That s ok but not for the price they asking. The place is quite an night. The rooms are basic too and a little muffy. Staff is friendly and the food makes up for the rest.

Room Tip: upstairs room are quieter.

Every chance I get when I am in Nicaragua I take my family and friends to Barca de Oro. The water in the bay front of the hotel is calm and safe to swim. The waves on the beach will delight the surfers, but younger children need to be cautious. The cabins are comfortable and clean. The staff are very friendly and the owner speaks English, French, and Spanish. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the prices are reasonable.

Room Tip: The cabins out back built on stilts are picturesque. The rooms near the water, especially the corne...

we stayed in a cabin on stilts. the location was nice, although a bit further back from the beach than we have preferred. staff were friendly, cabin clean, and food average. we were happy to come here although wouldn't necessary return. the beaches here are small and currents are strong. the beaches north of chinandega around aposentillo and jiquilillo are much better due to size, undeveloped, and surf.
