“Happy hour”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

Only went for happy hour. Cocktails reduced to $12 from $16. Five of the six in our party were unhappy with their cocktails. They were overly diluted with crushed ice making them watery. One of our party didn't drink their cocktail and they weren't charged for it

Bland, bland, bland and dated, including the guests ... Definitely not boutique or exclusive and the staff were useless. Won't be back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The rooms felt basic and the linen old. I thought they were hosting bingo in the restaurant one afternoon and the bar was shut before 9.30 at night ...

Dear DizzyGirlNZ,

I am sorry your stay was not what you expected. Our current average age of our guests is 33years – quite contrary to what you experienced, it seems that the timing of your travel was not quite right if it was socializing with other young people you were after. Each year we are privileged to have a group of ‘seniors’ stay with us for the purpose of immersing themselves in Cook Island Culture and participate in all the island has to offer during Maire Nui Week. They are an active bunch and participate in Lagoon Cruise, Safari Tour, Float Parade, Sailing, Fishing, Trade Day, Cultural Extravaganza shows. The group do take the majority of the hotel (as we are only 30 x rooms) a perfect property for small groups.
I am sorry you thought the staff were ‘useless’ as this is quite contrary to 99.9% of our feedback, however everyone has a right to their opinion, and I am disappointed that you experienced this.
There was one evening where the restaurant did close early, as the majority of the guests went to the Auditorium to experience Cook Islands Culture at its’ best and therefore the Restaurant chose to commence dinner that particular day at 5pm for the guests convienience, and therefore as there were no diners or bookings later that evening did close at 9pm.
I hope you do visit Rarotonga again as it truly does have so much to offer – for both young and young at heart!

We came to Rarotonga only for a friends wedding and chose here based in recommendations. It was clean, bright, nice rooms, large bathroom and the staff were friendly. It was a bit over priced but the whole island is quite expensive. The location was brilliant. Out of the wind and the beach was beautiful. You could walk either way up the beach or kayak across to the reef on the hotel kayaks. Overall if I was going back I would probably stay there again.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Beach Club. We had the best room in the place for a mid winter stay - all day sun over looking the pool magic. All round service was very good and the restaurant while not 5 star by any means knows how to put on a great feed be it the changing breakfast menu thought to the great theme nights - the only disappointment was not being their for the pig and prawn night! - the spareribs were amazing!
The free snorkelling adventure and cocktail evening was also great.
If it wasn't for the crazy flight arrangements (7am arrival! x Sydney) this is a place we would visit again and again

Room Tip: While the sea view is good on paper - don't forget where the sun shines

Our group of four friends stayed here for five nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. This is our third trip to Rarotonga but the first time we've stayed in an adults only property, we will do this from now on, the difference is wonderful. Sometimes we were the only people in the pool! We enjoyed the kayaks, treddle cat, stand up paddle board and snorkelling. The lagoon is great for swimming and any tide time you can paddle or swim over to the small motu's (islands).
A sunrise photo was not possible at this time of year as the sun rises over one of the small islands.
Many thanks Daena for all your assistance when requested, you are an asset to the property.

Room Tip: We had ground floor rooms which meant we could exit the room via our ranch slider and not have to wa...

While we did not stay here- we wish we did! Situated in a beautiful spot and out of the wind. The pool area looked amazing. We had lunch and a few cocktails and massage. The staff were so friendly and helpful. After staying in rarotonga for 7 days this is the best service we have encountered. Lovely, lovely people. Very impressed with menu and staff. 5 stars. Will be staying there next time we come back.

Our trip was organised by Liana Scott and was terrific!
We stayed in 2 bungalows which were self contained and well outfitted, a little worn but very comfortable. The Silver Sands restaurant, part of the Muri Beach Club Hotel complex was our breakfast point most days and the facilities of the hotel were available for our use. All staff and areas were excellent. We could not have enjoyed ourselves more.

Room Tip: Lower bungalows may have better view through palm trees.
