Loved staying here. Very clean. The staff is very accommodating. Access to the lagoon and a free snorkel and boat equipment. The grounds are simply beautiful. We even had the great experience of being asked by the staff to appear in an Air New Zealand commercial!!! Free dinner and an unforgettable experience. Loved staying here.

We were here for a week on honeymoon. It was amazing, in fact judging by the others, I'd say the best. The apartments themselves were basic but comfortable and well kept, but the grounds and gardens were beautiful, the pool area so tranquil and relaxing, the service was fantastic, the food was absolutely amazing and it's all set on the shores of a stunning turquoise lagoon. You could take kids there, but it's more of an grown up escape. The real highlight is the canopy dining set up on the beach - such a beautiful place to sit and eat, the service excellent and the food was that of fine restaurant. We'll be back one day.

We had a fantastic holiday in this beautiful lagoon setting. Wading distance from deserted islands. True relaxation, and comparatively unspoilt by tourism. We had no problems having sun beds when we wanted and didn't spot anyone reserving them when not in use.

However, first impressions of accommodation wasn't the best, rather basic compared to 4 star standards say in Mauritius or Maldives. Having said that, we couldn't have had a more enjoyable 3 days before continuing to Aitutaki. Food in the Barefoot bar and the Sandals restaurant was excellent for lunch and dinner. Lovely fish and seafood, but also other choices.

Breakfast buffet was plentiful with a great selection of fruits.. no eggs though unless you wanted to order and pay additionally. In our experience the level of service during breakfast wasn't of the same fabulous standard as during dinner time.

Friendliness of staff was exceptional and the gardens immaculate.

If you expect sound basic 3 star standards (rather than 4) in an amazing and intimate setting then you will be in for a treat..

I have to admit to being a little disappointed with our stays at pacific resort Rarotonga in Dec '12.

The room didnt appeal, we landed after midnight and the room was really average. for the rate we paid it seemed below expectation. After 15 mins or so we were moved to another room - great we thought! They've accidentally put us in the bad room but now we're moving to a good one. Sadly the second was much worse. I won't go into details because it would be too embarrassing for the resort and I really dont like to tee off at businesses on social media. I do think though the couple in the 2nd room complained and the staff moved us to see if we'd complain or just go to sleep. At 12:45am by this stage we did.

On the bright side the brekky was okay, the resort grounds, bar and restaurant seemed okay, the desk staff were friendly.

I note also that the Pacific Resort at Aitutaki is one of the finest I've ever experienced. Its considerably more $ again but does represent value IMHO.

I don't believe this is a problem due to comparing a 4 star and 5 star resort within the same group, we were pretty annoyed with the resort on the way in before we ever saw how great PR Aitutaki was.

Luckily for us he Aitutaki Pacific resort was so good that overall we became advocates of the management and pacific resort brand, but seriously guys, there's some real problems with the rooms and cleaning in Rara - we stayed in 3 rooms in two nights, I cant even put it down to bad luck.

Rarotonga is a beautiful island surrounded by the most beautiful lagoon. The staff are wonderful and the food excellent, however it is an expensive stay for what you get. $400 a night for a very basic room (and you need to pay for your own drinking water in the room!). We were on our honeymoon and were after a luxury retreat - Pacific Resort in Rarotonga is not the place for this kind of holiday. If luxury, romance and seclusion is what you are after, go to Pacific Resort in Aitutaki!

We chose the Pacific Resort Muri Beach for our sunrise wedding on the 26th November. Our entire stay was amazing. Our beach front room had amazing views, was well furnished and decorated and was well cleaned every day. The grounds were so well kept and all the staff from the girls on reception, the bar and wait staff through to the boys at the beach hut and the ground staff could not have done more to make our stay perfect.

Our wonderful wedding planner Leilani made sure every detail for our wedding was realised and did things we hadn't even thought of to make sure our day was perfect.

I would absolutely recommend the Pacific to anyone traveling to Rarotonga, the location, staff and accommodation are world class.

The Pacific Resort certainly stepped up to the mark after a very rocky start. We travelled as a family to celebrate my son's 21st and had booked months before..We arrived to the Resort to be shown into a Premium Family ROOM....my horror as we had booked a 2 bedroom Family Villa here was this room with a king and 2 singles all in a row...When checked back to reception that was what was booked from travel agent...and NO villa's available so we were shown 2 studios where a xtra bed was put in for my daughter while my son had room next door....Next morning I found my confirmation email on my phone....back to reception...to cut a long story abit shorter the travel agent had coded the accomadation wrongly...NO fault of the resort but we had to stay another night before a villa came available. Annie at reception was AMAZING sent us a cocktail and drink to room and free visit to the spa and even though it wasn't there fault was really caring and lovely the rest of our stay was exceptional food amazing staff all caring....Can't wait to go back.. As a final touch when we were leaving gave us a gorgeous sarong each for my daughter and me and 2 lovely packaged soaps sets.....Thankyou Pacific Resort much appreciated....

Room Tip: If you are a family and can afford a villa they are lovely.
