Of course you have to do the 'glass bottom boat' lagoon cruise while in Rarotonga, so away we went! Was definitely a highlight of our holiday - the staff have a sound knowledge of Rarotonga, the history behind it and the link to NZ Maori. We are very similar in a sense, originating from the same place.
Before embarking the boat, you sit down and let island time kick in while the staff sing some local songs, play the ukulele and drums until all passengers have arrived before hopping on the boat. You then cruise around the lagoon out to a deeper part of the lagoon and stop for 45 minutes for some snorkeling. After that Captain Tama's take you to a nearby island for a BBQ lunch whilst performing some very comical entertainment!
Coming from a Maori heritage the jokes the staff were making in reference to fellow maori and pakeha I found quite funny as I was able to easily relate to it! But some other people didn't understand their sense of humour - oh well, their loss, my gain!!!
Definitely enjoyed ourselves and would happily do this again.
Great value for money with the all inclusive cruise, swim, lunch and entertainment.
Thank you to all at Captain Tama's cruises, we'll be back again hopefully!
