When I stayed at this beautiful located farmhouse, with my mother and grandmother for one night. We found the family room charming, and rustic as a farm house should be. The breakfast was adequate, and the owner was very welcoming and friendly. We will be visiting again.

This is a very basic, traditional country farm house. The house is old, the decoration is old, the beds are old, its like stepping back in time.
It was clean, well as clean as an old house full of old things can be, but the bedding did have a slight musty smell about it.
You have to share a bathroom, which is ok at night, but getting up in the morning for breakfast, don't expect to get a shower(because there isn't one) or a bath because everyone else will be trying to get in there too.
There were tea and coffee facilities in the room but no milk, and to get water, guess what, you have to get it from the bathroom.
The owners are, how can I say it, a little awkward. I don't drink tea or coffee but there were no cold drinks on offer at breakfast, not even breakfast, I had to ask and I was given a tiny glass which was half full.
Its a shame because the interior really lets down the exterior, so much more could be made of the beautiful building, if they cut down the number of bedrooms to install ensuites would be a great start, and some new matresses wouldnt go amiss.
All in all, an OK stay for the money we paid, wouldn't go back though.

Room was spacious and comfortable for three of us, with clean linen. The only negative was the one bathroom, but it was big enough with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was better than expected, a typical English fry up! Also cereal was available if required. Friendly owners. I would definitely go again. Charming farmhouse experience.

My partner had booked a weekend here as a surprise, so I had not seen the website until we returned. Had I seen it I would have been looking forward to our stay in a spacious airy room similar to the ones shown on the website. The reality could not have been more different. In my opinion, the website is totally misrepresentative of this place.

On arrival, we were whisked through the kitchen, upstairs and shown into a tiny shoebox of a room. So small, there was no room for even one bedside table and the bed overhung the bathroom door. The bathroom looked grubby. As soon as I walked into it I noticed a half used bar of soap on the washbasin with a hair embedded in it (Yuck). There were used loofahs and sponges hanging on the door. I decided not to unpack as did not like the idea of putting my clothes in a wardrobe, the bottom of which was covered in dusty coathangers in a heap. The tea making facilities were revolting, sugar in a tin which had been dipped into with a dirty spoon - several months ago by the look of it, and powdered milk which also looked stale, we did not use them.

On arrival back at the farmhouse at 10pm that evening, we stumbled along the unlit drive from the designated B&B parking spaces and had to negotiate several owners cars in order to get to the path to the house,. We did not feel welcome to return any earlier than that, as no lounge facilities had been pointed out to us, and the thought of spending one minute more than necessary in the tiny bedroom was too depressing.

The following morning we arrived downstairs at 9am for breakfast. As we walked into the kitchen, the man of the house turned off the radio, and walked out. Cereals were on the table, but there was no juice. We were asked whether we wanted a cooked breakfast. I asked for a smaller breakfast which was greeted with a knowing smile, as clearly their standard breakfast is very small indeed. An egg, small rasher of bacon, small sausage, half tomato and spoonful of beans, plus one and a half slices of toast between two of us. Our small teapot was whisked away from us and given to the only other two guests when they arrived at the table. What this young foreign couple made of this sort of English hospitality I can't imagine. Even my partner, who is normally very chatty and friendly, was stunned into silence by the cold and unweloming atmosphere in the kitchen.

On going back to our shoebox of a bedroom, and the weather being poor, the thought of having to stay out all day only to return to this cold, unwelcoming, unfriendly place, was just too much - so we decided not to stay a moment longer.

Like several others we booked this relatively late AND forgot to look on Trip Adviser. We were only guests on first night (surprise, surprise) yet we were given tiny rooms!! Our group were expected to share a bathroom with inter-communicating doors from both bedrooms!!
The twin room had no chair & nowhere to hang clothes. Beds not made, cups not washed. No milk ,only very suspect 'coffee mate'. Hot water ran out. 'Hostess' unhelpful to the point of being downright rude. Cat on food table. No napkins, sparse breakfast (no juice etc) Only 1 knife given for both cooked breakfast & the disgusting, cheap, white only (DEFINITELY NOT HOME MADE) sliced bread - Tesco Value at a guess? Made to feel quite 'needy' when we asked about sitting in the lounge - what a nightmare

The farmhouse is located near Wingham in Kent and is in a fantastic rural location with some very friendly rare breed pigs (which the kids loved).
However, we were sharing a bathroom with at least one other room, there was no soap in the bathroom and the towel wasn't changed for the three days we stayed. Hot water was in short supply (our hostess said she wasn't surprised as lots of people were having baths!!) and the kids had to have a wartime-esque 3 inch bath.
The room did have lots of character. Beds were fairly bad, we had to ask for towels and the bed linen was old but clean. It was unclear which parts of the house we were "allowed" to use. On the Crockshard website there are photos of a couple of lounges, but we weren't shown these.
We were told that breakfast would be either at 7am or 9am and opted for 9. When we arrived for breakfast I was horrified. A dry piece of bacon, a spoonful of cheap baked beans, a tiny gristly sausage, dry toast and an egg. There was also cereal (muesli or cornflakes) with UHT milk. The homemade jams were however very nice.
Overall the children really enjoyed the stay as it was a real experience with the pigs and the house full of "character", but us adults were left feeling a bit let down.
