This was actually my second stay at Station Inn, and it delivers amazing value. It's right across the street from the train station, has free WiFi, a hot tub, and free tea and coffee. The rooms are very clean and all have tatami matting. The pillows are kind of hard, but that's pretty standard for Japan and definitely a non-issue.

The best location in town, right across from the station. The manager was extremely nice and the room (dorm room) was perfect. Possibly the most thoughtfully furnished dorm I've ever stayed at with two different blankets to choose from and plenty of space for our bags in a tatami room with bunk beds. -- Very clean! The showers and hot bath were perfect.
The lounge with free coffee and tea (and of course internet) was quite nice for relaxing before and after the hike up the mountain.

The hotel locates just opposite the train station & bus terminal, which is very convenience for going to other places. We stayed for two nights. The room is quite big comparing to other places. The Japanese breakfast is superb (700 yen). The highlight is that we can see Fuji San from the window. Furuoka San, the hotel manager is very kind to help re-arranging for our bookings for several times. I love the hot bath on the forth floor that you can see the Mt. Fuji while sitting in the hot bath. If I visit Kawagushiko again, I would definitely stay at Kawagushiko Station Inn again.

I spent 14 days in Japan and stayed in 5 different Ryokan/Inn and I would rank this inn 2nd out of the five. Locationwise, it is just a 5 mins walk from the train station but it is a bit tricky finding the place as the entrance is narrow and easily overlooked.

The room is small, simple and clean but when you are in Kawaguchiko, it is unlikely that you want to stay in the room long when you are surrounded by all the natural beauty. The owner is friendly and speaks a bit of English. The inn offers 2 variety of breakfast, Japanese and Western. Japanese breakfast is worth a try (though it is more expensive and you will need to pre-order a day before) while the Western breakfast is mainly toast. Frankly, there is nothing fantastic about the food but you will find that the choice of eating places is limited in the small town anyway. Furthermore, on a good day, you will be able to see Mt Fuji from the dinning area, which is the best part of the stay.

Free internet, guidebooks, coffee etc are available.

The only thing I don't like about the inn is the common bath area which can be quite crowded during peak hours. There is also no lift available, only stairs so it might not be very suitable for those with elderly.

I will definitely return to this inn if I go back again!
