“Great Coffee and Cakes”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2014 via mobile

We were in the area in the middle of the afternoon and this place popped up on Trip Advisor. We found out pretty easily.

The owner spoke very good English and we had a few interesting chats with her. She was an excellent host and really made the place feel friendly and inviting. Aside from that she's a great baker! The cookies were delicious and the muffins were fantastic. We had only planned on coming in for a coffee, but the cakes just looked so good. How could we say no? Great coffee too.

I'm very glad we tried this cafe and just wish we'd been in the area long enough to make more visits. I strongly recommend you come here for your coffee and cakes.

“Its dessert sweeten my journey, thanks.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2014 via mobile

I am not a fan of sweet, however when i find high score of Uemon cafe, i would give it a try.
It just 10 mins walk from music forest.
They provide western sweeties and drinks, like fruit tea, earl grey tea and cheese cakes. We ordered chocolate cheese cake and apple n blue berries fruit tart, they both paired with ice cream.
It is fanfastic to taste REAL western cakes in Fuji area. They are fresh and full of texture, and not TOO sweet as other Japanese dessert do.
Must try.
And most importance is the cake owner is sweet, sweeter than the cakes.

“Great cafe by every measure”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2013

So glad to have found this place in Kawaguchiko. I immediately fell in love with it and felt right at home. Happy and friendly owner, great baked goods, excellent teas and coffee, friendly and interesting patrons (both locals and travelers from around the world)... all in all a great place to relax and take a break. It was pouring the last time I was there, so I holed up inside one afternoon and got some work done while meeting a number of folks passing through. Highly recommended.

“A Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2013

If you are around the Fuji Five Lakes region then you mustn't miss this fantastic cafe. Tucked away on the north shore of Lake Kawaguchi, the Uemon cafe became a staple meeting place during my time in Japan. It has an intimate and friendly atmosphere and is perfect for kicking back after a long day checking out the Mt Fuji area, either alone of in a group. The owner speaks very good English and is an excellent host, who will happily sit down and have a chat with you if you look lonely. The food and drinks are handmade by the owner every day and are absolutely delicious, with recipes coming from all corners of Japan and numerous other countries as well.
The cafe also doubles up as an English conversation school, so there are plenty of locals who would be very happy to talk to you if you fancy making some friends. Or if you just want a quiet drink in the corner then there is free Wi-fi at your disposal too.
The Uemon Cafe really enhanced my experience of Japan and I would seriously recommend it as a great place to meet local Japanese people, gain some insider knowledge of the Five Lakes Region, make new friends and enjoy some delectable home cooking.
