We booked a Japanese style room for 4 pax facing the Lake Kawaguchi-ko and Mt.. Fuji. We were very lucky during our stay with the magnificent view of the lake and the mountain. Despite language barriers, the hotel staff were very courteous, helpful and polite. Every single little things were attended to attentively. We really enjoyed the breakfast and dinner. All meals were organised and decorated nicely and we found it quite reasonable. Love the onsen experience as well with the beautiful view of Mt Fuji. In fact, you can enjoy by walking around the lake in the morning and at night. Great place to stay!

We left our Kawaguchi-ko booking quite late and as a result we were quite limited in the hotels and rooms on the lake/views that were available to us. We chose Hotel New Century purely on it's good position on the lake for 'potential' views across the lake up to Mt. Fuji - unfortunately the weather was unkind to us on both days and there was cloud hanging low on the shoulders of Mt. Fuji - so alas no summit vistas :( On arrival the perky parking attendant guided us into the complimentary car park immediately and conveniently in front of the hotel (lakeside parking) and took all our luggage to the front desk. All the staff at the Hotel New Century were just SO friendly, SO kind and SO helpful - and the front desk staff spoke goodish english. My wife had accidentally left a blouse at our previous ryokan and the staff at the Hotel New Century made it their personal and urgent mission to have it returned - taking notes, making phone calls etc. We had a Japanese room (futonsx4) on the 2nd floor with vistas across the lake. We chose not to have the hotel meal options as we'd just stayed at 2 upmarket ryokans in the past 2 days and wanted only light meals - to recover! If you have no car this side of the lake could be a little difficult moving around Kawaguchi-ko easily and (as front desk explained to us) there are very few meal options in Kawaguchi-ko town itself - we had to drive over to Fujiyoshida town. There were a LOT of Chinese (on bus tours) staying at the hotel so it was very noisy from the time they arrived and throughout their stay. Overall it was a great stay and would definitely stay again - the HNC staff were just fabulous! Staff = 10/10! Would probably rate the hotel itself a 3 star hotel but the pricing a 4~4.5 star hotel - but it's on prime/perfect lake frontage overlooking Mt. Fuji - so all the hotels along here are similarly priced or more. There is shared hotel onsens: 1xmens and 1xwomens however they are not 'private' onsens - so 'no tattoo' policy applies. We booked HNC through Booking.com.

Stayed here for 1 night to experience Mt Fuji, thus we chose the room with mountain and lake view. Managed to catch Mt Fuji in its full view in the wee hours, which was awesome! The hotel was dated, but otherwise clean. Services of the hotel staff were top-notch though they speak very little English. The hotel offers free shuttle services from Kawaguchiko Station, which was great as the hotel was not exactly within walking distance. They serve a Kaiseki dinner on the day of checking in, and a breakfast the next day, which was authentic and nice. One downside was that the hotel did not had an official email address to check details of your reservation - everything for me (including dinner reservations) was done through Agoda.

Hotel New Century offers good value in all aspects and is highly recommended if you want to catch Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi in one shot.

Stayed in a Japanese-styled room with unobstructed views of Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi. To be able to wake up to the sights of Mount Fuji or watch the sun set on the majestic mountains is just incredible.

The hotel itself is clearly dated but not dirty. I wouldn't complain too much at all as despite the facilities look dated they get the job done. Same goes with the rooms with the rather functional approach to things. But I guess with this price and to be able to fit a family of 4, the hotel offers really good value while not lacking much compared to other hotels in the vicinity at same price point.

Being an hotel with onsen is also a plus as the onsen on 7th floor allows you to catch a clear glimpse of Mount Fuji, an experience to behold. The dinner and breakfast spread were decent as with the staff. Another plus point is also the free hotel shuttle to and from Kawaguchiko station. Situated in a small town, having this free service can be useful. In the hotel there's ample parking space, and it's a short walk to all the nearby points of interest.

All in all, the best part of this hotel is still the magnificent view of Mount Fuji. It is enough to outweigh all the cons or lack of luxury.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel New Century on Lake Kawaguchi looking right at Mt. Fuji. There are two "towers" comprising this hotel, which actually were two different hotels. Now they are one joined by a second floor skyway. We were in the 7 floor tower staying on the 6th floor. The view was postcard picture perfect! Lucky enough we saw the mountain clearly 3 of our 4 days. Actually the rooms on the lower floors in the lower tower have more window space but since they are not as high and do not have a balcony we were very happy with our room.
We signed up for the meal plan (breakfast and dinner). There are not many restaurants near this side of the lake. Busses run and the hotel bus is very accommodating but we were glad we took the hotel meals. Every meal was a beautiful thing to behold and extremely flavorful, authentic and nourishing. We never walked away hungry.
We had a Japanese style room. That means there are no permanent beds. They move the legless chairs and low table and put your bed which is like a futon mattress, on the floor every evening. It was not a problem for us but be advised. You can get a western style room but no view.
Except for one extremely nice and accommodating man who works from 8AM to 5PM nobody there speaks English but everyone was patient with us and very kind.
They have 2 Onsens (hot mineral water baths). As always men and women are segregated. Hours are staggered so everyone gets equal time at each Onsen. The one on the first floor has no view at all. The one on the 7th floor has a magnificent view of Mt. Fuji!

Room tip: High floor in the tower that has checkin facing the lake.
