An experience once in a lifetime - we loved it. The room was very cosy and traditional. The view to Mount Fuji was terrific - even if we couldn't see it all the time. We didn't have food in our room.
The beds on the tatami were more convenient than we thought. I slept quite well there, my husband needed a second mattress.
AND I really love the Onsen which was in the hotel. Hot springs with Mount Fuji view - what a treat.
The Onsen is open from 4 am!!!! to 2 am - unbelievable.

Room Tip: B211 was a good choice.

We used this hotel to recover after our climb of Mt Fuji. It proved perfect.
Great to wake up with a view from the room to Mt Fuji across the beautiful lake.
Excellent service, great food - we booked the special menu option, which was very good, and they were diligent in asking for our choices before we traveled.
Started the morning with a visit to the onsen on the top floor, also with a view of Fuji from the hot pool.
The only marginal negatives were a slightly thin futon mattress to our taste, and no Western breakfast.

I traveled to Kawakuchi lake last April. It was such a great memory with the nature beauty and also the accomodation at Hotel New Century. The room is very wide and all facilities (excluded hair-dyer) are provided. The sceneric from the room is superb, we can see Fuji Mt. behind the great lake so clearly from our room. Me and my boyfriend decided to have hotel dinner and breakfast. It was well prepared and very tasty. All staff are friendly and very helpful.

Only the onsen is disapointed. I expect an excellent view from the onsen but it was very soso.

Apartof the onsen, this is another impressive hotel I've ever stayed.

The service is good. Once we booked the room with breakfast and dinner, the hotel emailed us the choices of main dish for dinner. When we arrived in Kawaguchiko, we went to the information counter next to the train station askiing for the pick up, and the van arrived in a short time. Once we arrived at the hotel, the English speaking staff explained everything in details. The dinner is good with a lot of appetizers, although we were not sure which food to start with, the friendly Japanese waiter continued to explain everything in Japanese to us. It is a fun experience to try this and that , all of the food is served in a nice way. The rooms got nice view of mount Fuji. They have two nice onsen bath which have different schedule for different gender, the upper floor hot spring onsen and the lower floor jazucci lava onsen. They even provide complete toiletries for the onsen room. We can serve ourselves tea after onsen time. Wifi in this hotel is very fast. The room itself is clean and the futons are nice. Our breakfast is as good as dinner. They have Japanese style breakfast served on your table and you can choose some Western style food such as bread and butter on the table provided. We chose the last schedule of the hotel's complimentary transport back to the train station. The driver was nice, he even helped us to take pictures and wish us to stay in their hotel again when we have a chance to go there next time.

Booked this hotel as my wife wanted to try the Japanese rooms, we were not disappointed.

Arrived by bus at Kawaguchiko Station and, as advised, a quick phone call by the tourist office staff and we were picked up by the hotel mini bus a few minutes later. Our room had a fantastic view of Mount Fuji, we were lucky as it wasn't hidden by clouds at all during our stay.

The room was Japanese style and very comfortable, our bed was made up whilst we were at dinner. Our rate included dinner and breakfast with the hotel contacting us before our stay to ascertain our choice of meal. The meal itself was great and an interesting experience, the serving staff, who didn't speak a word of English, managed to explain the way the meal should be tackled.

After dinner a short walk by the lake and an early night, partly because we were tired from sightseeing and partly because there is little to do or go in the evening.

We thought the staff were super friendly and helpful, especially the guy who met us at the station and checked us in, we were made to feel really special.

Room Tip: Has to be a Fuji view room.

Different strokes for different folks as they say. But if you're like us, the first reason for choosing a hotel must be its location, right? Perfectly positioned on the north shore of Kawaguchi-ko (ko means lake in Japanese), to see Mt Fuji rising above the placid lake waters and a 8-minute brisk walk to the picture-postcard vantage point of Ubuyagasaki Peninsula (just look up Japan-guide.com's website).

A last-minute decision to self-drive while in the Fuji-Five Lakes region made our choice even better. After hopping off the Fujikyu train at Kawaguchiko Station, we hired a nice Subaru Imprezza from Nippon Rent-a-car next to the station without needing to phone the hotel for a complimentary shuttle bus. Check-in was a pleasant experience because of the warm hospitality from frontdesk staff like Mr Matsunami.

Because we had booked the first night with dinner & breakfast opt-in deals, we were treated to gastronomic delights in their in-house Japanese restaurant. In our 3 weeks touring Kyoto, Nara and Takayama, our meals here were the most elaborate. And did I mention Oishii!?(delicious in Japanese :-)

Although this isn't a new hotel as some reviewers have pointed out, almost all rooms have a fantastic view of Mt Fuji. We experienced a Western-style room the first night and a Japanese-style one on a higher floor the subsequent 4 nights. And our verdict? You should definitely choose Japanese-style, higher and mountain-view of course !

Remember that this hotel boasts of not one, but two in-house onsens. Wifey loved the views from the top-floor onsen but I personally found the water just a bit too hot to really soak for longer than a few minutes. Why can't all onsens be like Banff Hotsprings which keep their temperature at a constant 37 degrees C, or at least a choice of pools with varying temps?

When we departed on the last morning (check-out time is a train-friendly 12noon), all the staff lined up outside to wave us a fond farewell. This was amazing ClubMed hospitality with a Japanese touch !

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor for more privacy, Japanese-style for more space and definitely mountainview !
