“Excellent stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 18, 2013

Free hotel pick up & drop off at the train/bus station! Just ask the tourist information staff to make the phone call for you, you will be on your way to the hotel in 5-10 mins. We stayed at the tatami room, with mountain Fuji right outside of our window. It's magical. The food & onsen were great, the beds are being prepared while we were having dinner. Staffs were all friendly. You cannot ask for more.

Room Tip: Request for the room on building B if possible

This hotel provided a free shuttle service from/to train station which was great as we didn't have to worry about a taxi. When we arrived at the hotel there was a welcoming sign out the front with your name on it and all the staff are so friendly and very helpful. We stayed in a traditional Japanese tatami room which was a nice change from a standard hotel room. We had a view across the lake to Mt Fuji bit even though it was too cloudy it was still beautiful. Kimonos and slippers were provided which you could wear around the hotel and onsen. The onsen was so relaxing and a must for all. Just be aware that they charge a 350 Yen onsen tax per person when checking out whether you use itnor not. I highly recommend the Japanese breakfast but it may not be for everyone.

We stayed at Hotel New Century for one night. We picked the traditional ryokan room to stay in. I think it was the best selection, as I peaked inside a "Western" style room and it didn't look as nice as ours. Our room faced the lake and we had a beautiful view of the town and lake on our balcony. Unfortunately it was cloudy the entire time we were there, but had it not been, the view of Mt. Fuji would have been outstanding. While the hotel is older, the rooms were clean. We did not get to experience the communal baths since we both have tattoos (it is not acceptable in Japan to show tattoos). The staff at the hotel was AMAZING and very helpful! The gentleman who works during the day (didn't catch his name!) spoke very good English and helped us buy tickets to the Happy Monkey show and get a taxi cab over there. He also suggested a place for us to eat that night (we didn't eat at the hotel), and gave us a ride back to the train station the next day. If you want a hotel with an amazing view and wonderfully polite staff, and you don't mind it being a big older, then this is the hotel for you. I would like to note that the hotel is not close to the train station and you will need to take a taxi or the hotel shuttle to/from the hotel if you have luggage with you.

Room Tip: Get a room that overlooks the lake and Mt. Fuji.

What i love about this hotel is that you can enjoy the view of Fuji-san from your room at all time. It's a very nice hotel by the lake.

Location : it gives you a very good view of Fuji moutain, but it's quite far from the train station (around 15-20 minute on foot). But it has a shuttle service, picking you up and dropping you off at the train station. There are not many restaurants and mini mart around there.

Room : the room is a little bit old but is in a good condition and is very clean. It's not that spacious but adequte for 2 people. It is a Japanese style (tatami mat with Japanese table), in the evening, they will prepare a Japanese futon for us.

Staffs : extremely very serviced mind, very friendly and very helpful.

Restaurant : as we don't have much choices for dinner due to limited restaurant around that area, we decided to dine at the hotel and we were so happy we chose to have dinner there. It's a traditional Japanese hot pot (shabu) and is very delicious.

We will choose to stay here again for sure.

I wasn't ready to leave this hotel, even though we arrived on a very wet week, it was cloudy and MT Fuji was behind clouds and didn't want to make an appearance. The hotel was perfect. The staff can't do enough for you, helpful, polite and one step ahead with your bags, free shuttle pick up, explanations and tips for us. A welcome message with your name on the welcome board when you enter the hotel, a beautiful Japanese breakfast, I highly recommended it, delicious and a beautiful experience. There is also a great Japanese restaurant about 200-250 meters down the road, come out the hotel and turn left, great authentic experience, seats on the floor on cushions, great Saki and decor etc. back the hotel, the Onsens were perfect to relax in. Was sad to say goodbye, but one I will defo go back to.

Stayed a night in a Japanese room, with dinner and breakfast. The service was topnotch. We reached Kawaguchiko Station around late evening and gave the hotel a call from the tourist centre for pick-up service. They came within minutes although no prior arrangement was made. We wanted to catch the 1st bus at Kawaguchiko Station leaving for Tokyo the next morning, and had emailed them to request for early breakfast and drop-off service at 6.30am. The agreed and since their restaurant do not open so early, they offered to prepare take-out breakfast for us. Needless to say, the salmon and rice dumplings were hearty! There was also a staff stationed at the carpark opposite the hotel to help anyone crossing the road! They made it easier for families with children to just take a leisurely stroll along Lake Kawaguchi!

We wanted a room at the Annex but they explained nicely that was closed due to non-peak season. However, the onsen at the Annex remained open. Hotel was a bit out-dated but very clean, cozy and efficient. The front desk staffs were very friendly and helpful. Although the front desk staff spoke limited English, we chatted and helped us with some calls for reservations for our coming Tokyo trip. Wonderful!

Clean room, pretty yukata and fluffy futons! The view was excellent. We could see Mount Fuji clearly from our window while still snuggling under the futons. Sunrise is as early as 4.30am, so that's when Mount Fuji view is best when the clouds are far and away!

There is no open-air baths but the indoor cypress bath was huge, with commanding views of Mount Fuji. All amenities are provided. Although it was non-peak, everything was very very clean. There was green tea dispenser and massage chair outside the onsen!

Dinner was served at the restaurant. It was sumptuous and beautifully presented. After that, we took a stroll along the hotels next to Hotel New Century, there were no 24hrs minimart but some hotels were selling Fuji biscuits and souvenirs.

Of course, Hotel New Century is not as glamorous as the other hotels within the area, but their great service and hospitality left us with good impressions!

Room Tip: If you are staying at the main building, request for a room nearer to the Annex, which has a better...

Great service. From the pick-up at the railway station to transport back there.

Some staff with very goog English (which is not so common in this area).

Good location - walking distance to few places of interest. Close to Mt. Fuji.

Breakfast must be ordered in advance but it was excellent (!).

We booked the Japanesse room and enjoyed the experience.

Traditional (separated) hot tube in the hotel.

No wi-fi provided by the hotel (but it appears that some service can be purchased on-line). This is an area for improvement.

This is not a 5 star Western style hotel and the building (as well as surroundings) is not brand new. However, they offer a great service and indeed memorable experience.
