“Stunning view of Mt Fuji”
Reviewed April 3, 2014

This scenic lake town offers a stunning view of Mount Fuji. The town is easily accessible by train and bus from Shinjuku (the latter is a much cheaper option) From the train station, the lake is about a ten minute walk away. Don't forget to try houtou noodles while you're there

“Stunning views!”
Reviewed March 22, 2014

Firstly the lake is called Kawaguchiko or Lake Kawaguchi. The ko at the end signifies lake, so it's redundant to call it Lake Kawaguchiko.

We visited Kawaguchiko in early November which was perfect as it was not to cold so the outdoor stuff could still be done and the precipitation in the air was lower thus ensuring better chances of seeing Mt Fuji.

The bests views are of course from the northern shore or from the viewing platform on at the end of the ropeway. There are actually a lot of things to see and do in Kawaguchiko so my 1 day allotment meant that I didn't actually get to do most of what I planned for the day. Definitely intend to go back for another visit.

we went there on a cloudy and cold day, but eventually it cleared up just before sunset and the place offered a stunning view...

Such a beautiful sight even without any sightings of Fuji. The view from every part of the lakeside is worth a walk.
