We were there in winter so there weren't much people visiting the lake. The lake was so serene and we spent our time walking along it, watching ducks swimming by and had a romantic and enjoyable time together.

The lake front is a beautiful sppot to sit and watch the world go by. It can get very crowded during peak season, but it does all add to the atmosphere

Arriving at the Kawaguchiko Train station, we purchased an unlimited two day pass on the Retro bus for 1000 yen. this allows you to get off and on at various stops around Lake Kawaguchi. The area was ablaze with autumn colors. The trees were at its best in mid November and what a treat for the eyes. The most awe inspiring site was seeing Mt. Fuji. Simply grand and majestic.
We spent the entire day here. Would have liked to stay at one of the various inns and hotels that are located alongside the lake. During sunset, we again went to the park at the end of the retro bus route and saw Mt. Fuji basking in the day's final sunlight. It was truly an amazing site.

We went as the autumn leaves were turning red. The views are amazing. Weather was beautiful. Every photo was like a postcard! The boat ride was quite nice, but walking along the edge of the lake is so lovely too. Lots to see. Wish I'd had more time.

I've been Hakone and Kawaguchiko have my vote. For better view of Mt. Fuji go to Oishi park with retro bus stop 21 Shizen Seikatsukan
