We stayed as a family group of 5 adults with evening meal and breakfast. Probably the best traditional meals we had in a 2 week visit to Japan (including a wedding reception meal @ £180 a head).
It was expensive but well worth it!
The Shabu-Shabu evening meal (with the boiling pot in the centre to cook your own meat etc) was delicious, and since we could have endless refills of the meat, rice, and salad dishes, well worth the price.
Breakfast was an excellent selection of traditional dishes, closely followed by another visit to the baths (separated sexes), which were scrupulously clean and maintained.
The staff went out of their way to help us, at any time, day or night.
Modern construction - decorated to look like a traditional Onsen, but with the advantages of modern plumbing and soundproofing.
The only thing that I personally did not like was the Futons, but this was quite expected, as I had trouble with most hotel beds in Japan as they were all hard!

Room tip: Get a room facing the lake!

Very clean rooms, kind personals, exclusive food, great roof onsen, lovely place (but Mt. Fuji is on the other side - meaning not see it from hotel room) and Fujiyama (roller coasters).

Not very good for people speaking only english or czech - almost nobody speak different language than japanase! But staying here is true japan culture which you cannot see in big cities like

Just came back from Kawaguichiko and stay at this ryokan. I booked just a day after the Golden Week ended, and what a difference it made (46,000 -> 23,000 yen!) The price may still be hefty, but get this: It includes a 7-course sukiyaki (or shabu shabu if u prefer that) dinner and a sumptuous breakfast for 2! Especially the sukiyaki, between me and my gf, we couldn't finish all 4 plates of fresh beef. And we left a lot of sashimi and sushi behind :(.

The room is tatami style, spacious and can sleep 4 persons! It has a beautiful Kawaguichi Lake View (but not Mt Fuji as its at the back). There is free wifi internet at the lobby (but not in room), and free shuttle bus service to the Kawaguchiko Station (although its only a 5 mins walk). By the way, the rooftop onsen (hot spring) is open 24 HOURS !!

The ryokan is also a 5 min walk to 2 great attractions, the boat ride and ropeway. Get a package ticket for 1,200 yen! Absolutely worth it; if you can't climb the Mt Fuji, at least see it in a leisurely way.
