“A hotel with good location and great view.”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

We stayed for one night in a room with a lake view and it is half western style, half Japanese style room. The lake view rooms have great views of Lake Kawaguchiko and it is 5 mins walk from the Yuransen Ropeway Iriguchi bus stop hence it is easy to return to if you bought the one or two days Retro Bus ticket.
Directions:
*Upon your arrival at the Kawaguchiko Station, head to the information counter and tell the staff that you are staying at this hotel. They will call the hotel and arrange a pick up. The hotel also provide bus services to the train station. There is free WIFI but only at the lobby area.

I found the price of the room to be a bit steep hence we booked the room without meals. There is a few restaurants close to the hotel and a convenience store, Lawson just around the corner. If you have a travel budget, I would book only the room and sort out your dinner and breakfast either from the nearby restaurants or from Lawson.
The hotel has its own onsen bath at the basement. The bath is divided into the wash area, the indoor bath and a small, open air bath and a sauna. The onsen smell heavily of chlorine hence it is definitely not my favourite onsen bath house.
The hotel staff spoke only basic English and wasn't very informative about tips on what to see around the area.

Room Tip: Be sure to choose a floor where is it non-smoking. Our room, 555 was a smoking floor and the moment...

Booked for two nights, and accommodation included a hot spring bath in our Western-Japanese room (2 comfortable beds and tatami room for futon bedding.) Absolute bliss to sit in the hot tub, with the shutters open to the view of Lake Kawaguchi. Better to book a hot spring bathtub room lake side for a constant gorgeous view rather than the other side of the hotel, as Mount Fuji is known as the 'shy mountain' and may not always appear! A relaxing 30 minute walk from the hotel around the lake and Mount Fuji may be apparent many times for all the photos you'll want to be taking. Room amenities are numerous, as are the amenities found in the public hot spring baths on level 1, where a sauna, massage pool, inside and outside pools, and bathing stations can be found. It's best to ensure you know the Japanese bathing etiquette before taking that long anticipated relaxing soak! And if you're embarrassed about soaping, washing and relaxing naked with other people of your gender, then public hot spring bathing is definitely not for you - use the hot tub in your suite. When booking your accommodation, order the more expensive Japanese dinner service for an absolute delight in the dining senses. Kaiseki dining will be what you remember most about your stay! There's also nothing wrong wearing your comfortable yukatta (Japanese dressing robe) to dinner. The hotel is not the most modern in this tourist trap but it has all you need and more, and though the cost seems a little expensive, it is Japan after all and most hotels at the base of Mt Fuji are around the same price or more. The staff are very attentive. We'll definitely be back to Fuji Lake Hotel if only to catch Fuji-san on her not so shy day!

Room Tip: Lakeside rooms offer a constant view. Rooms with own hot tub facilities need to be booked as not all...

I spent one night in this hotel, I wanted to experience mount Fuji during sunset and sunrise. The hotel's location by the lake is excellent, the property is large but felt dated. There's no room service so you need to take that into consideration, dinner/breakfast are served during inflexible timings so you need to plan and work around that (there's a 24 hour supermarket just round teh corner which proved very handy for me).
The staff were very friendly but not fluent in English. On a positive note, the hotel rates were acceptable, also it's location is a few short of minutes walk from the cable car/rope way from where one can capture great views as well of mount fuji, however I actually walked up the hill before sunrise (not hard and takes 20 minutes max) and it was worth it.

Room Tip: If you want a guaranteed beautiful view then take the lake side view room. Mount fuji often gets clo...

We stayed 2 nights in Fuji Lake Hotel and got the Western-Japanese Room. This is essentially a room with 2 twin beds and a separate Japanese tatami area where at night, the staff can prepare Japanese style sleeping accommodations with futons on the floor. We slept the Japanese way for 2 nights and I say, those were probably one of the best nights sleep I have had in my life!

We got the package with breakfast and dinner and it was really worth the money. That is to say if you like very traditional Japanese food, not the typical fried or grilled stuff. If you don't have dinner in your package, look to spend over 5000 JPY for the dinner per person.

The onsen was also very good. I went during odd hours so there would be 2 or 3 people at the most at the baths. Be sure to scrub and wash very well before going in any of the pools. It is considered very rude not to do so.

All in all, this was a great truly Japanese experience. Going around the town during the day, traditional Japanese food and onsen at night. Very much worth the trip!

Room Tip: When you get to Kawaguchiko station, whether by train or by bus, go the the tourist information offi...

We loved this hotel. It combines traditional charm with modern amenities really well. The service here was outstanding and all the staff were attentive and helpful. Our room was a corner with a mountain view, a huge suite with everything we could possibly need. The onsen was a delight, indoor and outdoor tubs. The lakeside setting is beautiful despite the rain! Evening meal was a traditional kaiseki dinner. Beautifully crafted and served with some very different tastes and textures to try. We would definitely come back.

I took my parents for a one night trip to Fuji lake hotel. We had two beautiful rooms with private hot spring baths. One room was over looking the lake and the other with a mount Fuji view.
All the staff were excellent and the dinner was also very good.
I highly recommend this hotel for its excellent service.

We had the traditional/western room with the lake view. It was the biggest hotel room I had stayed in throughout my trip to Tokyo, Japan. It has 2 single beds and a spacious tatami area.

What I truly love about this hotel is the view, no matter where you look, you will be surrounded by enchanting lake or spell-binding Mt. Fuji.

The room and the beds were so comfortable; I always have trouble sleeping when I travel, but that night in Fuki Lake Hotel, I slept like a baby. Maybe the onsen helped.

The hotel's common onsen was like private onsen for me coz for the two times I was there, I was the only one using it. Even though, I was alone, the place felt very inviting and not at all creepy.

We decided to have the traditional Japanese breakfast; it was one of the best decision we made for this trip. The traditional Japanese breakfast was simply awesome! For someone who hates to eat plain rice (I don't eat plain rice back home in my country), I emptied the entire bowl!

Everything is perfect for me in this quaint hotel, filled with warm staff who speak English quite well and the scenic view of Mt. Fuji at sunrise from the hotel observatory just make it all so worth it.
