Usual rooms in this type of property with Double Bed and Bunk above. 22 Euro Taxi trip from St Omer station so almost as much as the 27 Euro Room Fee. Bed very comfortable and slept well, Sat TV Fine but all French Channels,

Good Selection for Breakfast, very well priced at only 5 Euro. Quiet Location and staff helpful.

We booked this for three nights on the day of our stay as we were let down at last minute. A very easy and efficient check in and payment. Staff very friendly, room quite small but perfectly adequate and spotlessly clean. Towels were changed each day without asking. On one day we were late up , went out and came back and room hadn't been serviced, we didn't mind ,but when we came back from evening meal it was great to find that they had infact done it.

Booked two rooms to break up our return journey home from the south of France before catching the ferry from Calais the following morning. We have had lots of experience staying in this budget type of accommodation, but have never encountered anything as dire. In one room we were privileged to have some cold water and the toilet flushed, but no hot water! In the other room there was no water at all - no flushing toilet, no hot water, no cold water, no shower! The communal toilet by reception was also broken. In both rooms the doors to the toilet/shower room were broken, therefore there was no privacy at all. The bathroom floor was filthy. The Receptionist did her best to try and help - armed with a screwdriver she undid all the panels in the bathroom to see why there was no water, but could not do anymore. She said all the rooms were full so could not move us. She did offer free breakfast as compensation, but the offer of coffee and a croissant no where near made up for not having a flushing toilet or shower. If this had been our first impression of France we would have got on the next ferry back to England. Luckily it was our last night, and we have stayed in plenty of other hotels offering good basic, clean rooms with excellent, clean communal toilets and showers. Good Night Hotel rooms should be condemned. If they are not prepared to upgrade the plumbing in the rooms, they should at a minimum provide basic facilities somewhere in the hotel. No one expects en-suite for the price they charge, but you do expect a flushing toilet and shower facility somewhere in the building.

Chose it on price and distance from Calais. Only down points are the fact it's not near any nightlife, restaurants etc so not one for a romantic getaway, and the fact it's on a road which gets busy early in the morning. There's a vending machine for snacks and a microwave. Should have known that a microwaved croque-monsieur was never going to work! Staff friendly and helpful. Arrived after 9pm to find that the automated booking in machine wasn't working. Started to panic until we discovered you could summons help from the reception desk by pressing a buzzer. Rooms clean, everything worked and the breakfast was excellent and plentiful. Not sure I'd want to spend 6 nights there as one reviewer did but as a stopover it's recommended.

Room Tip: Try and get a room at the back, away from the road, and you might get a longer sleep! Eat before you...

We booked for 6 nights at this hotel. It was very easy to find (you'll see the Lemon Hotel first, beside it and the receptionist very kindly allowed us in at 11pm at night (supposed to be up til 9pm check in. The rooms are basic, the toilet is small, lol... I can rest my forehead on the door as I sit there, which in some ways is kinda useful if I am tired! :) The shower is also small (normal height) so you have the shower curtain touching you as you shower (yuk)... therefore I recommend buying a cheap shower curtain from Asda / Sainsburys wherever and bringing it with you and taking their one down.

We are staying on the top floor (2nd floor) and the free wifi is ok, signal a bit weak and drops out every now and then, but during the evening we sit downstairs and the signal is full 4 bars of freeeee wifi! Yes. FREE WIFI in this super-cheap hotel!

I was concerned about staying at such a cheap hotel, the obvious concern being the types of people who might need a cheap hotel for one night... lol... but nope, seen families and older people staying here in small groups.

If you stand in the reception area and look out the doors, in that direction there is a supermarket. They have a microwave on site, and we used it for warming up ready meals bought there when we wanted a break from the cafes and didn't want to pay a fortune for a wholesome French meal. If you are arriving late, fear not. They have a vending machine that sells microwaveable food like Croque Monsieurs and ready meals and of course snacks and cold drinks.

At 5 euros each, the breakfast is actually a good deal because the hot chocolate and coffees are excellent quality and you can eat as much bread and pastries as you like, with butter and jams.

Locally, St Omer is a few minutes drive away, and has a lovely park with fountain, and excellent cafes which are HALF the price of the cafes at Le Touquet Plage. We also found a place called Les Promenades De La Bacove. If you are here during warm weather, do yourself a favour and visit it. It's surreal. It has a kind of Devon feel to it, small rivers with small boats and a grassy embankment. We parked up and fell asleep on the grass! Lovely.

You MUST go to La Coupole. It sounds boring but it is fascinating. Basically, it was captured by the allies whilst it was being built by concentration camp labourers. Had the Nazis succeeded, there would have been 50 supersonic missiles hitting London daily and we could have lost the war. The museum artifacts are amazing, the films telling you the stories are compelling. Even our 10 year old daughter who normally says EVERYTHING is boring, found it interesting. There is a picnic area as you turn into La Coupole entrance, to the right. Lovely grassy area, nice and quiet.

Back to the hotel. Ok. Warning. 3 bedroom room 3rd bed is NOT safe for a small child. The bunk bed is VERY high up and there is almost no safety rail. We did not allow our child to sleep up there. Also, the beds are very hard. It is a cheap hotel and this is not a complaint, just prepare yourself if you are older or have a bad back. Worth bringing an inflatable double mattress for the bed next time methinks. We brought our own towels so can't comment on the towels thing as we never noticed.

Free parking is in abundance. So many spaces, mostly empty. Lobby is clean with plenty of tables and chairs.

What would I recommend doing different this time? Bring your own kettle and bring your own little cartons of long life milk (or buy some at the supermarket for the evening) as there are no coffee or tea facilities after breakfast (annoying) even if you wanted to pay for some!

Fantastic value for money. Felt very safe, never worried about the car. Will book again soon. Definitely coming back with our boys to show them La Coupole.

This is an excellent hotel for an overnight stop convenient for both Calais and Dunkirk.....We have stayed here on and off for the last 15 years and in the last 5 years about 5 times each year en route for the South of France with and without children. The accommodation is clean, the water piping hot, and the beds comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. They pointed us in the direction of Auchen and cheap diesel.

Towels are very small. but hey look at what you are paying? Breakfasts are better than Etaps's but we don't bother, a cup of coffee in a cafe and a croissant is more than enough....

Highly recommended as a stopover...Why pay more?
