Reviewed March 15, 2013

We stayed twice when we had to be at the RPA for treatment.

Walking distance to King Street Newtown and buses right out the front.

Everything worked, staff very friendly and a bonus having parking.

Would stay again if need be.

Room Tip: The front rooms on 2nd floor were fine

We stayed two periods at this hotel - 3 days in February and 4 days in March. The Hotel staff was very helpful and the place was clean. I rate this hotel poor because of little things that could be added to make the Hotel more like the Ibis hotels I stayed on numerous occassions in Europe. No place to hang anything i.e towels and cloths. No washcloths or face towels were provided just a shower towel. There was no shower curtain, the water went all over the floor which created a slippery hazard. A little modification can fix all my negative comments.

As we needed to go to RPA hospital, we decided to stay at Ibis Budget St Peters. The hotel is located within a complex which is surrounded by 2 well known fast food chain : KFC and McD thus finding food is not a problem. It is also not far from Newtown, which has plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants. As it is a budget hotel, we didn't have too high expectation. Staff are friendly, full of smile. The room and bathroom are typical Ibis Budget, small. Though on the surface, the room looks well maintained, there are things which can be improved. The security lock is broken. The remote to AC is not working (being a small person in height, I had to climb onto chair to operate AC from unit). Though our room was serviced on a daily basis with clean towels provided everyday, the carpet wasn't vacuumed and seems in real need for a cleaning session. As our stay coincided with Mardi Gras event, there were plenty of guests who we thought took part in the parade and were rehearsing their parade well into the night. Overall, we did enjoy our stay at Ibis Budget St Peters.

The first room we stayed in had cigarette burn in carpet, dusty, no coffee and tea facilities, and there was only enough hot water for one shower, however on our return we had already booked in, so we backed up and to our surprise, the room the second room we stayed in was heaps cleaner plenty of hot water, carpet was nice and clean, front desk was very helpful, for the price would stay there again as it so close and cheap to airport..

Room Tip: the rooms at the front of motel seem to be in better condition or they had changed their cleaner on...

Although some of the fittings and fixtures in the room are starting to show some wear and tear, this is a perfecftly satisfactory place to get a cheap bed for the night. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the location is superb (leisurly stroll to Newtown with great cafes, entertainment etc) and very close to St Peter's train station.
My only problem was with the broken window blind which made getting to sleep pretty hard with the glare of traffic lights etc. and the breakfast. If white bread for toast, cubes of butter, instant coffee and sugary cereal is your thing, go for it, but for the price you can get a much better, cheaper and, dare I say, healthier breakfast next door at McDonald's.

If you just want a bed for the night for the airport the next day, this hotel is great for location. While not expensive (as the budget name makes clear), it wasn't cheap enough for both the style of accommodation (room is very small and has one of those pre-made shower with toilet that you step up in to) and the lack of cleanliness. The carpet was rotten, piles of dust and sticky.
You would not want to stay more than one night.
The manager was lovely though and very pleasant

For what we payed for it is quite ok. For a budget quick weekend away it ticked the need for a bed and bathroom and price even if it was tiny. The staff were friendly and always greeted with a smile. It is basic accomodation and showering you feel like your in a submarine or spaceship. But the convinence of KFC and Mcdonalds was good and TV in room was a bonus as well clean towel daily. AirCon is abit noisy but workedwell and slightly noisy when window left open from traffic during peak times. Bus stops at the door step were great and frequent with either short 422 bus trip to train station or to trendy King Street in Newtown or 368 straight to Bondi Juction. Bottomline you don't go on to holiday stay in the hotel room but at the price we got and ovarall ease of our time there might would consider staying again.

Room Tip: *Check in is Strictly after 12 it's very close to airport so taxi would be cheaper than airport...
