“Stunning caves but beware the hike up”
Reviewed August 26, 2014 via mobile

The caves and ice are stunning as well worth the walk. But it is quite some walk. 15 mins from car to ticket booth, 20 mins to cable car, 45 min wait, and 15 min walk from cable car to cave. And then they tell you that there are 700 steps to climb up and 700 down. We were fine even though the 8yo was tired by the end.

Finally the ban on photography is justified. Tripods and long exposure would slow everyone down and flash photography would spoil it for the rest if us whilst producing rubbish shots for the flasher.

“Biggest icecaves in the world! Worth a visit!”
Reviewed August 23, 2014

Very interesting place to be and the ice caves inside are stunning!
The cable car that goes up can take only 15 people at a time and hence the waiting time can be more than an hour if the crowd is huge!

Entry is 40 euros and you are not allowed cameras inside!
You need to have good hiking shoes to hike 20min first , then a cable car for 5 min and then another 15min hike ( easy ). Make sure you have jackets , caps and gloves to keep you warm inside. Once you enter you need to climb up 700 odd steps and then down 700 again ( easy).

The guided tour inside is in several languages english and german i believe and can take around an hour. The ice sculptures inside are interesting. the cave is 42kms long and you do only the first 1km which is interesting.

It can be a half day affair or a full day leisure activity if you wanna also visit the castle on the way!

The path leading to the caves is very nice and you can get stunning views of the landscape below..( photos attached).

You also get the credit of visiting the worlds biggest ice caves :) good luck!

On your way back there is a restaurant before the cable car stop which serves hot drinks and food!

“Worth 1400 stairs”
Reviewed August 21, 2014 via mobile

We've been to many caves, but this was very refreshing experience. 700 stairs up warmed us up, so it didn't bother us we were underdressed. The line to cable car was very long, try to get there early.

“Most definitely a must visit.”
Reviewed August 18, 2014

A once in a lifetime experience. Just make sure you follow the below, to make the visit a real fun:
1. Do your best to arrive around 9 am. The site is not overloaded and you will make your way up in 45 min, including 2 times of 20 minutes walk up the mountain and the cable car.
2. Make sure you do not come with a kids stroller, or that you have a baby carrier backpack with you. It is 700 stairs climb, and strollers cannot pass that.
3. Bring warm clothes - it is around the freezing point inside. I saw people climbing there wearing shorts... You don't wanna be one of those :)
