i was there one and I was very delight with the whole lunch : dishes , quality, a proper quantity considering is a restaurant with "star".
I had deer as main course, a quiche as starter and a marvelous soft cake, all witha couple of white Tyrol wine glasses.
Sevice was outstanding and the local is very modern , but also warm.

Had Lunch here last weekend. Herr Obauer looked after us really well. Food top notch and good value in itself. The real cost comes with the drinks! Watch out for the desert wine!

A really lovley place. Top class service and a chef who is very creative and delivers beatifully presented local produce. Everything is sourced locally be it local lamb and fish(which were the options on our €35 set lunch)or the fruit and vegtables.

Highly recommended.

Sometimes, the experience of company, food, and wine, combines to create an experience that is greater than the sum of its parts. In this case, however, Obauer did quite a bit to ensure the perfection of our experience. It began with staff that graciously accommodated English-speakers and continued with a non-sexist and talented sommlier - and with impeccible timing, too. I do recommend having your wine paired with each course - who knew Austrian (okay, and a little Hungarian) wines could be so interesting! As we stayed in the hotel that night, we also had the Obauer breakfast. Breakfast is not for the peckish or faint of heart, but a journey...

Overall the food was good but did not live up to the expectation. And the price tag. There were some gems like the paprika soup was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately served with some tasteless piece of fish and lobster - also with no taste whatsoever. The blueberry risotto with a hint of grapefruit was stunning, however the pheasant sitting on top of it was overcooked and not as juicy as should have been. The desert was very plain. Nice cheese platter - perhaps the most enjoyable dish within the tasting menu. The bread spreads were very interesting and delicious. The one with porcini mushrooms stands out in my memory. But the bread basket very poor - some pieces of bread stale with white mould visible on the edge. That's simply unacceptable. Overall there were very nice elements to the meal, but it's more miss and hit, the consistency across the whole meal was lacking. My impression is that the place lives out of its past reputation but does not live up to it (or so I hope because it’s my first time here). The price is inadequate, I had much much better meals at this price range.

The ambience is very simple, the bar area reminds more of a local inn rather than a place for aperitive. Service was friendly, although there is a language barrier as they are not used to cater for non German speakers. It's less of a problem if one takes a tasting menu, but choosing a la carte would be a tough call since they cannot translate even the main ingredients, like the fish, etc.

Not my best dining experience, overall.

The food was fantastic and completely unexpected quality for such an off the beaten track location.
The food was a great combination of rustic Austrian and French.
The staff were very friendly and the Owner/Chef even came out to greet us and chat with the Americans who had wandered into his restaurant.
