We were on a road trip to goa and we decided to check this property for our stay. We were taken aback by this property and we were thrilled to stay in this property. We had an amazing view of the sunset and we should apperciate the staff for helping us in our requirement. This is a ideal place for romantic getaways and in people are visiting goa, check this property.

Everything was perfect , one thing we didn't like in our room is the TV and we believe the management will change it shortly to the latest models.

This is a very minor issue and if you want to enjoy one of the best places in Goa, please stay here.

Its a unique property of Taj built viewing the remains of the Aguada Fort. Its just 2 kms away from Taj Holiday Village. The room setting are much better than any of the taj properties as each cottage is located on mountain trail with separate private garden and pool. Its best for honeymooning couples. the settings are romantic and the restaurants offer best of goan food.

We were in this hotel almost 3 year ago during our honeymoon, so though that we should go back again and refresh our memories, however the way we were treated by the hotel staff was horrible and really pathetic.

This time we went to Goa, we stayed at Aguada Anchorage (Clarks Exotica) which happens to be very very near to both these Taj properties. While taking a quiet evening walk near our hotel we just decided to go to Taj and refresh our good memories and have some coffee there.

However to our surprise we were treated like trash. We were asked for a passport to get entry inside. When we asked to speak to some one, we met the security supervisor who was in TAJ uniform and said that we will need to present to then either a Passport or a PAN card to get entry inside the premises. I told them if they need a photo ID proof I can give them a Photo Credit Card issued by Citibank, however still we were treated bad and were asked to leave.

So much to go to the TAJ.

I visited Taj Aguada with my wife. We intended a quiet romantic getaway and got exactly that. This was my third visit to the property.

Getting There:
It is in the northern part of Goa. The hotel arranges complimentary pickups from the Airport by Coach. Travel time from the Airport to Hotel is about Thirty Minutes.

First Impressions About the Property:
Huge and spread out. The property is all scattered about, so the first impressions are that of a winding road that gets you to the lobby. Missed by many is the lane that takes you up the hill, where are placed villas and some excellent sea view rooms.

Lobby & Check-In:
The lobby looks up to a waiting area and open greens that overlook the seas from a height. You would not mind just sitting in this area watching the seas from the large windows. The check in is smooth and right after the entrance. They have the ability to make a special felicitation counter towards the right side of the entrance to accomodate large groups travelling together.

Property from the Inside:
One part of the property is adjoining the lobby and accomodates two floors of rooms. It overlooks large manicured lawns (though not as large as those at Taj Exotica / Park Hyatt, yet quite sufficient).
The other part is of villas that are built across the hill overlooking the rest of the Aguada property and the beach. On earlier visits I had the good fortune of staying at a large suite and a sea view villa room. The views can be amazing. The walk itself is quite lovely.
The property does have spots where the goan/Portugese culture shine through and add to the charm of the stay.

Rooms:
The view from most rooms adjoining the lobby complex would be of the lawns, and if you're lucky even the sea. The rooms on the hill are designed as villas, many looking on to the sea. The suites have some green spaces with sit outs. The rooms on the hill are in the midst of nature and you can expect the need for insect repellants, which the hotel will provide.
Necessary utilities were available (Coffee maker and supplies, Bottled Water, Ironing Board, Mosquito Repellant and toileteries). The rooms are well appointed.
The general impression of the quality of rooms was good. The beds were comfortable and the rooms well lit. Airconditioning was right and controls allow you to set temperature as per your preference.

Service:
Taj's signature service will be at display at this property as well. Errors though rare, may occur. But my experience leads me to believe that the Taj group is serious about offering its guests a memorable experience and will make sincere efforts to make amends where merited.

Restaurants:
The food is good and has variety. Though not as well spread out as the Taj Exotica, the options will be sufficient for a few days. The advantage of being in North Goa also lends the opportunity of heading out and experimenting the many culinary charms that Goa has to offer across its many beaches in the north.

Spa, Gym and other facilities
The Jiva spa is recommended. Have not tried their gymnasium and other facilities like steam, sauna and jacuzzi, so cannot comment. The swimming pool is good and overlooks the sea. Two restaurants adjacent to the pool add to the dining experience.
The Aguada has a flavour of history and adventure. Head out to check out the Aguada watch tower or the prison. The hotel organises some adventure activities like rappelling etc.
The Aguada beach is approachable from the property. The Aguada beach is a red / brown sand beach, and certainly not one of the better beaches, but its fairly clean and you can opt for water sports during the season or enjoy the many shacks lining the beach. The beach is almost completely enveloped by the seas during monsoon.
Scooters and car are available on hire just around the corner from the property (opposite Taj Holiday Village)
Check Out & Overall Experience:
The check out was prompt, our departure car was arranged right on time and as expected. The property is an excellent get away.
Though one could be inclined to prefer the bigger Taj Exotica, a trip to Aguada is recommended.

Very nice hotel in an excellent location for beach activities and access to North Goa Beaches. Try and get a room with it own sit out patio. Please note this hotel is about 1 hour north of the airport. If you want South Goa then choose a hotel that is South of the airport.
