“Excellent, Recommended if you're staying in Goa!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2013

Vivanta by Taj was an excellent choice and a wonderful stay in Goa. I'd recommend it as a couples, friends and a family hotel.

Rooms:

We had a cottage with an excellent view of the beach. Rooms were clean, LCD TV with about 10 out of 70 English channels, large clean bathroom, plenty of wardrobe space, a small couch and chair. Bottle of water were replaced everyday, rooms were spotless and cleaned to perfection everyday and turndown service every evening. They help with your bags going to and from reception. Walls are thin and you can hear but its not much of a problem.

Restaurants:

Morisco is an seafood type with excellent quality of seafood (gourmet style), they cook it how you want - Well Recommended. Latitude in a worldwide cuisine and again is very good quality. Il Camino, italian restaurant, was probably one of the best restaurants ive been too with yet again good quality of food.

Poolside:

Average sized pool with all restaurants within seconds of each other. Sun beds get taken up very quickly (by 11am they were all gone!). My advice is to wake up early, secure your beds and then go for breakfast. Unfortunately this is what everyone does. Pool temperature and chlorine level is just right, cold enough to stay cool but not freezing. They have a nice a bar which you can order food, cocktails and drinks.

Customer Service:

Probably the best I've ever had. I've read a lot about service on this site and thought twice about booking however the customer service is one of the highest i've received. Nothing was ever too much, always willing to make you feel as comfortable as possible and willing to go above and beyond for you to have the best experience. They arranged our sun beds to make us feel comfortable, moved our breakfast table in the shade, Chef's came to see us and ask about their food and even getting our food at a buffet menu! These were just some of things they did for us.

Local Amenities:

Beach is about 30 seconds walk away which had beautiful warm water, soft sand and an array of water sports. It's not promoted by the Hotel but you can ask anyone about it. If you ask the hotel they will let you know what to do and how to do it. However, Goa is mainly a relaxing type of holiday. Apart from churches, spice plantation and Panjim there isn't much else to do. There is the same hotel next to this one too (Holiday Village) which you have access too as well for restaurants and pool)

Spa & Gym:

Basic Gym - treadmills etc. You have access to a tennis court, billiards, table tennis as well. Lots of different types of treatment at the spa - good prices too.

Lots to choose from

Room Tip: You'll mostly be spending time at the beach, pool, restaurant or bar don't worry too much ab...

We are a big group(more than 60) and we stayed in Taj Fort Agouda for 3 days.

I strongly agree to the other reviewers that the rooms needs urgent renovations. The rooms are not of a five star standard. To give some examples, the wall mixture in our bathroom doesn't seem to work.(Pool facing Room No: 232). This is the case of most of the rooms in Taj. As we are a big group, we had been allotted all types of rooms. So I had a chance to inspect some of my friends rooms. Also found some villas with very old unfinished/unpolished(Example: Room Nos: 441....) mosaic tiles in the room. The most fantastic part is the big old CRT TVs in the Villa rooms. How can a place like Taj provide their guests with an age old CRT TV.... (at times it doesn't work)

Hospitality and the location is good. Breakfast spread was good. Other than that, nothing great about this place. There are lots of other places in the same price range where you really get good/clean/spacious rooms.

If you are just going to spend your night here and the rest of the day outside, then this place is recommended. But again why do you need to pay so much ........

Stayed 3 nights here from 21-24 december. On arrival we got upgraded from garden view room to sea view with sit out which was a great start to our mini honeymoon! The staff then left a cake saying congratulations in our room with rose petals on the bed - very sweet! Ate at Morisco the first night and what amazing food we had!!! We were absolutely mind blown! Really good food, service. Choice of wine is a little restricted for those wanting mid-range Indian wines (there was no Sula for example...) We then chilled at the SFX - I would highly recommend their Watermelon & Mint Martini - i think i lived on that for the 3 days!!
Next day we wanted to sleep in the morning but couldn't as our neighbors had decided to put on the TV with really loud music at 7am! After 2 calls to the reception the music went down. breakfast in room was OK. We went to the Spa and got really amazing massages. The hotel provides you a car to drive you the 100m distance - not necessary but a well appreciated touch.
In the evening I had asked for a corner table at the Latitude for a little privacy - While I could see the table reserved, I was told it wasn't possible and it had been reserved for VIP guests - what the heck?! don't tell your guests that they are not VIP! Finally they gave us a table in a back corner behind the SFX with no candles, service was poor. This ruined my evening and potentially was the only dark cloud on this trip.
Next morning we were woken up again to the loud music next door!!! However we were getting up early in anycase as we went dolphin watching with the crew from the beach - Don't waste your time - They don't know how to see dolphins - as soon as they spot something they charge the boat towards it so obviously the dolphin goes away. WASTE of time & money!! We then rented a scooter & went to Baga beach- again hotel's car took us till the Village Resort and the scooter renting was just there. A very nice experience. Was a little sceptic about driving in Goa but in the end was OK. Baga was really nice - went to St Anthony's for lunch, hookah on the beach. In the afternoon went back for a massage. That evening we went back to the Sea Food at Morisco & drinks at SFX. Still as delicious!!
Last morning - woke up again to the loud music!!! Really annoying! Left our baggage with the hotel clerks & told them which coach we needed to take.Took the scooter to Ajanta beach & chilled there. Came back in time for the coach for the airport. Really good arrangements from the hotel side.

Overall:
Good: Location, Pool, Helpful checkin staff, Housekeeping, Seafood restaurant, SFX, SPA, Car Services

Improvement needed: Make your rooms sound proof!!! Or atleast limit the maximum volume on the TVs to not frustrate the people in the next room!! At Latitude : treat all your guests the same - we are all spending big money to be there, we all deserve candles on our table!

Location, Food and Hospitality at its best..

Awesome Location... Right in front of the sea... Amazing views..

We stayed at Fort Aguada during 22nd to 25th October, 2012. The hotel is situated at one of the best locations and I must say it is well maintained. We were very happy to know that we got upgraded from Sea View Without Sit Out to With Sit Out without any additional charges. The staff was very courteous. Food is excellent. Overall service is awesome. A truly king living life at Taj. Highly recommended to all the people out there.

Room Tip: Sea Facing Rooms with sitout are best!!!

Spent 7 night there on a leisure trip to Goa with my husband...The Hotel has a good location and a good view from sea view room but the rooms are tired and in urgent need of refurbishment. Staff are excellent and always wanting to please. The food at the restaurants is memorable, particularly the sea-food.Overall, if you're happy to spend your time between the pool, beach, bar and restaurants at the hotel, this is a great place to go...

We were expecting the Taj Fort Aguada in Goa to be the highlight of our 15 day trip in India but instead we could hardly wait to leave. For a Taj hotel it was tired. We realised that there were renovations however, when painters and tradesmen in the room above continuously scrapped their ladders across the floor through the day and into the early evening making an afternoon nap impossible. Personal visits to the duty manager to complain about the noise were basically ignored. The noise continued throughout our stay. Never again!

Room Tip: Remember to ask for a room well away from current renovations

t was our main hotel at travel across India. We gave a lot of money, but didn't receive good service. Hotel not 5 stars. Breakfasts were good only. In hotel repair is required. the Internet works very badly and speed didn't allow to talk on Skype.
