We stayed at the hotel for 8 nights during the end of the tourist season in late September.
Stella, the owner, helped us with everything and did it with a big smile. The hotel was perfect for us and defiantly a good value for the money. The pool was very clean and was refreshing in the hot days.
So without doubt you will not regret if you choose this hotel.

This was out final destination on our 3 week, 4 island holiday. Our previous hotels / islands were really great and we wondered if we could make it 4 out of 4 fantastic venues. We did! We stayed in one of the top floor rooms as we wanted a view. We ended in number 10 which has the terrace that goes around 3 sides of the room giving you fantastic views on all sides, including overlooking the pool. You can see the room in the pictures - it is the one with the barrel roof at the top. There are no kitchen facilities other than a fridge but since breakfast is provided then you do not really need any. Although if you want to drink wine purchased by yourselves in the evening remember to pack a corkscrew. The breakfast around the pool was great and served quite late so there was no need to rush. The pool was an added bonus and was just the thing to cool off in when sun bathing. Stella the owner is extremely friendly and helpful and is just the sort of owner you would want on holiday. The steap climb to the hotel should not be underestimated and consideration for a vehicle is a must. However, if you want the view etc. this is inevitable and it did not spoil our enjoyment of the hotel. We will be returning sometimer in the future and will hire a car next time. There is a snack / bar service available at very competitive rates.

The beach was huge and consisted of mostly sand and you could walk out in the sea for an extremely long way before getting out of your depth. If you are a sunset seaker be aware that you cannot see it properly at the hotel in August. For this go to the far end of the beach where there is a trendy beach bar / cafe which is a perfect spot to watch the sun go down. The prices are a bit on the high side but this is probably due to the quality of the venue and its location. For good cocktails at 5 euros during happy hour and a friendly atmosphere thry the Captain Morgans Bar at the hotel end of the beach. The umbrellas were a bit expensive at 8 euros for 2 but the shade is actually worth the cost!

Room Tip: If you are into views when you are sipping your wine early evening on your terrace then go for one o...

Lovely family ran hotel in a walking distance to the beach.
My girlfriend and myself booked it a bit last minute and the owners had immediately emailed us offering to pick us up from the ferry, which was nice. They also gave us a lift back on the day of departure.
The hotel is tidy and the room has everything you need. Our room had a really big balcony with a great view to the sea. Nice clean swimming pool and good breakfast, especially on Sundays (they make an amazing traditional chickpea soup!)
If I ever go back to Sifnos, and hopefully I will, this is where I will stay.

Spent 3 days on Sifnos staying at the Margado Accommodations. Stella, the host was wonderful and very accommodating. The place is clean and tidy, great value for money. The pool was fantastic and had a variety of foods for breakfast. Rooms have small balconies to enjoy a wine & take in the breath taking views.

We have just returned from a week on Sifnos and stayed at the Margado. After extensive research on tripadvisor and elsewhere we chose the Margado as it appears to be pretty much the only hotel in Kamares with a pool. As a pool was on the 'must have' check list for my 2 children (aged 13 and 11), we booked this hotel.

It was a lovely place with large clean rooms, a pretty pool area, nice balconys, great views and free wifi (again useful with teens). Stella the owner was such a lovely host, from collecting us at the port, to advising on places to see and eat, she was a font of information in at least 4 languages!

Breakfast was 8 - 11am, so nice leisurely mornings, was served buffet-style by the pool. On Sundays the traditional Sifnosian (?) delicacy of chickpea stew was on offer too. This was cooked on the Saturday night on the open fire. I can't describe how delicious it was (make sure you are there for the weekend!).

Sitting on our balcony we could see across the bay, and watch the sun setting over the sea. Due to it's position at the top of the village, the view was beautiful, but bear in mind it is at the top of a steep hill. For this reason it might not suit families with very young children, or less able adults. This would be the only downside to the place, though it is quite a thrill driving up or down it on hired mopeds, or in our case, a jeep.

Kamares itself was my ideal holiday location, a lovely sandy beach, shallow crystal clear water, a choice of restaurants and a couple of cafes/bars, mini-markets and a couple of shops. It felt like a village that had grown organically and was not a purpose built 'resort' which we felt about Platys Yialos. It was also very quiet, and the weather at approx 30 c was perfect. High summer would be just too hot (for me) and far busier. Kamares is brilliant but we really enjoyed exploring the rest of the island in the jeep which we hired at a very reasonable rate from ProtoMoto.

If you want a hotel with some of the most fabulous views of the Aegean then you cannot go wrong with the Margado. This excellent hotel is in Sifnos' port town of Kamares which has a fantastic beach and all the facilities that you need for a great holiday.

The owner, Stella, is a lovely, friendly lady and from the moment she first meets you on the port to that final sad goodbye (I dare you not to shed a tear when you leave this island), she looks after you. A delicious continental breakfast is offered from 8:00 until the very civilised time of 11:00 every day right next to the swimming pool in a delightful setting.

The piece de la resistance, however, was the room that we stayed in. We decided to book one of the superior rooms which is right at the top of the building. It had a huge balcony which was not just at the front but went around the side as well. It had a good quality table and chairs and a concrete ledge which went all around the bottom of the balcony so that you could sit comfortably wherever you wanted. The room was cleaned thoroughly every day with simple toileteries provided and clean towels. I personally suffer from a back problem and had no back pain for the entire week which was thanks to the very comfortable beds.

True, there was a bit of a walk from the beach and port to the hotel so people with walking difficulties may need to think carefully but we were informed that car hire was extremely reasonable and you don't get fantastic views without being in a slightly elevated position! We chose not to hire a car as Kamares had everything we needed and we did the walk twice a day and it was fine - in fact it was beautifully scenic - and gave us the opportunity to admire the cycladic flora and architecture.

As for Kamares - we don't have children but noticed that there were many children playing quietly and safely on the beach and that the water remained shallow for a very long way out. The sand was soft underfoot which negates the need for worrying about sea urchins and the expense of swimming shoes. There are plenty of tavernas selling traditional (and delicious) Greek food and there are ice cream parlours, bakeries and pastry shops - so ideal for family holidays but low key enough for couples too. The swimming pool at Margado is lovely and clean too. There are sunbeds located on the beach at only 5 euro for two beds and an umbrella and we enjoyed eating at Captain Andreas taverna for lunch as it was on the beach and about three metres from our sunbeds. The cafe that provides the sunbeds also does snacks if you fancy something lighter. However, if you choose not to be lazy like us there is plenty to see around the island and loads of culture to enjoy.

All in all a fabulous holiday - highly recommended.
