“Wonderful Getaway and Excellent Hospitality”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2009

We had a fantastic time at Delphini. It was our favourite hotel during our 2 weeks holiday in the Greek Isles. It was a shame that we didn't have time for another couple of nights.

It is about a 10-15 min walk into Kamares, however George will pick you up from the bus station or wharf and will also take you back when you leave. Kamares itself isn't the best part of the island, but there is a decent range of restaurants and bars. We just spent most of time relaxing at the hotel and enjoying the pool and their food. It was a wonderful place just to relax.

The hotel is very stylish, immaculately clean, beds are very comfortable and hospitality from George and his wife are excellent (however George has a bit of a habit of not listening to everything you tell/ask him). Their restaurant serves wonderful home cooked food, both at lunch and dinner. Only improvement here could have been the wine, which was a bit tasteless.

The pool is fantastic - salt water direct from the sea, nice and deep at one end and long enough to be able to do some short laps if you want. You can even go out of the resort, down a ladder and straight into the sea if you want.

All up, a great place to unwind and relax for a few days.

We really enjoyed 6 nights stay here in a superior room. The room was light, amazingly clean and really great to come back to after exploring the island. The swimming pool is really fabulous. George and his family are ever-present which gives a different feel to the hotel- something most will love but some might a bit off-putting. The food was really good- you just follow George's enthusiastic recommendations- everything is described as 'special- don't worry -stay happy!'
Don't forget to phone the hotel to pick you up on arrival at the port as it is a long uphill wlk if you have luggage.

Rooms: very clean, modern and well equipped. Rooms had a/c, tv, fridge etc. plus a mosquito net (a nice touch) and were very nicely decorated. Our only gripe was that our room had a shower "cubicle" that seemed designed for the exclusive use of a size "0" cat-walk model. "Persons of size", beware of this! Hopefully others were more spacious....
Location: We loved it. It's a 10min walk into Kamares which is just perfect after dinner either in the hotel (we didn't do this, but it was available) or in Kamares itself. The view from the hotel is wonderful looking over the harbour and Kamares itself.
Staff: very friendly as you'd expect from a family run hotel.
Food: we only had breakfast and this was the only weak aspect of the stay. "Could do better" as the school reports would've said!
Special mention has to go to the sea-water filled infinity (swimming) pool which is just fantastic. Lie in the shallow end, watch the sunset and all you can see is the Aegean sea with no houses, electrcity poles etc. etc. to spoil it. Wonderful!

Small family operated hotel with beautiful views of harbor, private balconies, good food, lovely pool, close to beach, and kind staff all make this an excellent place to enjoy Sifnos, a Greek Island that is a great place to relax. Sifnos also has some great hiking trails, if you are interested, or you can sit by the pool or swim at the nearby beach.

The property itself is beautiful, the view and sunset absolutely stunning, so is the pool.
The rooms are clean, but average at the most, showers (in the two rooms we saw) absolutely minuscule and would not fit anyone larger than average.

The main problem, however, is the insincerity of the owner(s).
Make sure that you double-check all charges, George's understanding of English varied according to situation and constant "Don't worry be happy" wore out pretty thin at the end of our 6-day stay.
Felt like the family had just discovered that money can be made on tourists, but without any kind experience in customer-service. The sister runs the poolside café and charges Starbucks-prices for her coffees.

Kamares beach (10 min walk) was dirty throughout, but with lots of families with children who didn't seem to mind.
Platys Gialos was a MUCH more pleasant beach and although Kamares has a greater variety of restaurants etc. I would most certainly look for accommodation there instead.

Sifnos was the first island our group of 20 travelers visited on our three week trip to Greece in September. It was the perfect island to relax after the noise and busyness of Athens and The Delphini Hotel was the perfect place to spend our days there. The layout of the hotel is great and the deck around the wonderful infinity pool that seems to merge into the sea became our groups place to relax and visit. I can't say enough good things about how friendly George and his wife Peppi are - they made out stay so comfortable, especially when our group taking 10 rooms pretty much took over the hotel. The food was fantastic!!! After our first day our group ended up having every meal here - the food was so good we didn't want to try anywhere else. Peppi's Moussaka was the best I have ever tasted! I would highly recommend including Sifnos to anyone's Greek itinerary and stay at The Delphini Hotel you won't be disappointed.

We stayed at the Delfini for 5 nights and were met at the port by Georgis and introduced on arrival at the hotel to his wife Pepi, who seems to spend most of her time in the kitchen, the result of which is delicious food.
The room is among the best we have stayed in in Greece, with smart furnishing and mosquito net over the bed. Finishing touches such as mosquito machine, safe deposit box and bathroom accessories were also provided.
The location of the hotel on the rocks above the entrance to the bay of Kamares is outstanding, and it is fun watching the hive of activity for a short while as ferries come and go several times a day, the swimming pool is great too with the appearance of disappearing into the sea.
The walk into Kamares is about 15 mins, but uphill on the way back.
Overall a very comfortable stay in a friendly, pleasant environment
