The accommodation was perfect for our needs and was a few lazy footsteps to the beach. Tony & Jan were amazing hosts and very knowledgeable. They did everything in their means to make our stay memorable. Thank you.
We had a lovely, colourful and very relaxing time in Laborie, staying in Driftwood for a week – which was a bit ‘Death in Paradise’ without the death part – just a veranda, a sweet little tropical garden and a few coconut palms separating you from the beach. It even had a visiting gecko. You could see (and hear) the sea from there, and watch the world go by. It was really imaginatively decorated and although fairly small, had everything we needed and was in fact quite luxurious inside, with a lovely tall shower-room where you could see the stars and a large four-poster bed with antique bedposts. The table outside on the veranda was perfect for a leisurely breakfast and lunch, and there were some very good authentic restaurants in the village for dinner – Mama Tilly’s, Salt Rush (Wilson’s place by the sea) and Mama Rose’s on the square all ticked the right boxes, and we managed to catch a chicken roti at Zoe’s (the blue place by the football pitch!), which was really tasty. It was worth getting up early to catch the market on Saturday to stock up on fruit. The buses were quite fun to use – very reasonable prices, not at all hot or stuffy, and friendly local passengers! The Balenbouche Estate was a fascinating place to visit – and if you get the chance to go for an evening meal, we’d recommend you take it! All in all, a really magical experience and a great base from which to experience the real St Lucia.
Tony and Jan were the perfect hosts - very friendly and hospitable - we couldn't have wished for more. The decor in the hut was brilliant- very inspiring, and their future building projects are exciting and original.
Thank you both so much - sorry we have taken so long to respond.

My husband and I loved Driftwood and loved staying in Laborie. The cottage is so charming and perfectly equipped for your every need. The owners are lovely people and attentive to their guests. We spent 8 nights there and were very comfortable. It was great to sit on our porch every day, watching the hummingbirds, patting the dogs and enjoying life in this peaceful place. We were part of a large group and many of the others thought we definitely had the best spot.
Great location, safe quiet beach a few steps away, lovely warm sea. Very friendly people, and the local amenities all within easy walking distance. There were plenty of good places to eat and drink nearby. Driftwood Cottage is a lovely place to stay. It has everything you need, a great view of the sea, lovely porch to sit on, eat breakfast, have a glass of wine! Tony and Jan are lovely hosts, nothing is too much trouble, and they made our stay very special.
My husband and I returned to this place again this year!
Spectacular cottage, beach is extraordinary, hosts are so genuine and the
surroundings truly a local experience. Local people are kind and welcoming
but do not bother you to buy items.
Jan and Tony are always willing to answer a questions or to help out in
'above and beyond' ways.
We will return!!
Note: lots of dogs... friendly and not bothersome, but you should at
least like dogs!
Fabulous stay at Driftwood last week. Driftwood is located just behind the beautiful beach in Laborie Bay, a charming Caribbean village on the west side of the island of Saint Lucia. The accommodation is superb - lovely bathroom, relaxing verandah, comfortable bed and a well equipped kitchen for those who really want to cook. However, the local restaurants, although simple, are excellent - Wilson's "Salt Rush" on the beach as well as Mama Tilly's highly recommended and great value for money. Tony and Jan are consummate hosts and full of local knowledge - they gave us great recommendations on things to do and were always on hand when needed. Just love the place and will be back soon !
