You will catch a panoramic view of the Kanas Lake and the snow capped mountains from Guanyu Platform. To get here, you should catch the bus from the Bus Connection Center. Tickets for the bus ride are 20 RMB each. The bus will only take you to a certain point where from there, there is a 1030 steps ascend to the platform. The climb is well worth it if you want to catch some breath

It takes 1068 steps to get up to the top of this pavilion. However, the view is amazing. Would recommend it. Along the way, there are plenty of wild flowers and is beautiful.

Coming down, majority of the walk is on a slope but easy walk as it is paved.

From the tourist center bus charges 120 RMB but if looking for some adventure then hire a horse from new village across the river. Its charges around 200 or hike free of charge. Must take water and food if hiking. Be carefull on the edge and steps specially when taking selfies. Views at top are amazing.

Instead of catching a bus to almost the top of the hill, take the stares on the East face and indulge yourself in the ever changing view along the rise of the stares.
More details on how to get there can be found in my other post related to this area.

This is part of the provincial park

One has to purchase tickets to get into park

You take the shuttle bus into the park

Depending where you want to go,you are transferred to smaller shuttle bus to take you half way to the mountain

Sitting in front is a real experience as the bus negotiates through the 180 turn, this is not for people, who has never been on a roller coaster ride

The road is narrowed, but the drivers of the cars in both directions seem to have mutual understanding

The downward bus will stop prematurely prior to the turn for the upward driver to put in gear and accelerate and make the turn

......don,t look

Then come the challenge 1068 steps to the top

It is ok...

The climb is not steep,,take your time as there are lots of resting places plus scenic spots to take photos

The wind however is the major factor,in spite of bright sunshine, dress warm, wear a warm hat to cover you up

The time going up is about half and hour

Once the top is reached, you can appreciate the 360 panoramic view of the mountains, and the kanas lake

If you want to sit down and rest you have to take a one minute walk to another wooden building to buy drinks etc

Going down is easier, as it is a one way

It is made of granite stones.....slippery when wet....

Overall it is worth the climb

As least you can say..... I have done it!!

Good exercise to walk up, around 1068 steps, but when you reached the top, not many things to see. And you don't have to join the boat tour to tour around the lake, it's boring and waste of money.

The Kanas Shuttle Bus first dropped us at the parking area and that’s where the climb starts. As you climb up the stairs, the view just gets better and better.
There are numerous photography platforms along the steps for you to snap the amazing scenery, or benches and pavilions as well for the weary legs.

The 360 degree view up at the Fish-viewing Pavillion is breath-taking and totally worth the climb.!
The stunning view does not only refer to the beautiful turquoise Kanas lake, it also encompasses the surreal surroundings around the lake such as the greeneries, the clear blue sky and the snow-capped mountain that make this entire scenery a magnificent view.

A very worth-while climb.!

Be prepared for a good joke up the 1K over steps to reach the top , the view of the Kanas lake is always insight and gets better the higher you go . You get to see the whole area from the top of this Pavilion and legend has it that it was from this high pout that a giant fish was see in the lake.

You need to walk up the hill before you can get the panoramic view of Kanas. Guanyu Pavilion is the right place. There are many steps to climb but worth the effort.

After a short drive with one of the shuttle buses from the visitor center you can enjoy the most beautiful views of Kanas Lake and the surrounding mountains while climbing up a little more than 1000 steps to the Fish Pavillion. On clear days you can see the Friendship Peak at the border between China, Russia and Mongolia. Definitely one of the highlights around the lake, not to be missed.
