The lake is totally in green colour and so gentle like a virgin.
Best view point is 观鱼台(guan yu tai) which is about 1000 steps walk on the hill. Best time to visit the Shenxianwan神仙湾 is in the early morning, the gulf will be covered by thin white fog, really like a fairy world.
Walking by the river side from Moon bay to the Wolong bay is best experience, also there are so many great places to take photos.

Beautiful scenery with evergreen trees, birch, wild flowers everywhere. The color of the lake and river were so nice (1,330m ASL). Hot under the sun but cool in the shade. The Lake cruise trip was so so (not recommended for young ans adventurous people) it took us up about 1/3 of the lake to, so they claimed, the deepest part of the lake and told story about the legendary big red monster fish. Hiking on wooden walkway along the Kanas River is fairly easy and recommended (bring water and put on sunblock). We didn't have much time so we dropped off the bus at Crescent Moon Bend and walked to Sleeping Dragon Bay (48.62165, 87.04832), where we board the bus to get out. The total distance was about 2km. down and up the hills.
The Fish Observatory (Guanyu Ting) is also recommended. There are about 1,111 steps to the observatory (abt 2,000m ASL 48.72578, 86.99047) where you can see almost the whole lake as well as the Friendship peak (Youyifeng or Khüiten Peak, 4,374m ASL), the approx. landmark of Chinese, Mongolian and Russian tripoint borders. Lots of nice flowers too.
The closest airport to Kanas Geopark is Buerjin City airport (KJI) which is about 50km. away (48.22338, 87.00214, 1,130m ASL)

The lake is a beautiful geopark located in Burgin County, Chinese part of the Altay Mountain Range, Northern Xinjiang, and mainly populated by Kazakh. We had the chance to stay at one of the Kazakh family's wooden houses and experience nature. The lake is beautiful and weather was fantastic. The Tourism Centre in Kanas Lake is developed to cater the increasing tourists flow. You may have a chance to meet with Tuva (Mongolic Tribal people populating the village along with Kazakhs).
