There were 7 of us staying in the cottage (three couples and one single), The rooms were well equipped and the beds very comfortable but the real pleasant surprise was that each of the showers in the ensuites were fab, the place had a very new feel about it and the owners both very approachable and friendly ( full of the usual craic): ) The area has stunning views and a lovely pleasant walk to a nearby viaduct is recommended.
I would definitely recommend Glendun Cottage to any party.

Thanks for the review. It was a pleasure to have you all and was nice to see the cottage get its first festive make over,But having said that there are a lot of nicer walks ,beach walks and round the village by the river, walks to the caves and longer walks up Glendun and over layde taking in the coastline from a height. Your group have really got the Christmas mood going round here and we also have a group coming in for Christmas .I better make sure my recycling bins are empty .Merry Christmas to you all

So glad you and your family enjoyed the cottage. We are only getting the chance to respond now, sorry it has taken a while as we have been very busy with a few groups in the b&b also and it has just started to calm down now in the B&B with the Cottage still doing well for weekends.

Wonderful forethought by the owners Raymond and Susan who live in the adjacent B&B. The self catering accommodation was as warm as toast as they had put the central heating on pending our arrival, and there was complimentary tea, coffee and milk, along with a bottle of wine and a tin of chocolates! The property is very high spec and fully equipped (all four bedrooms en-suite), nice kitchen if you like cooking. The views from the property are fantastic and there is something for everyone whether it be walking, cycling, the beach, sightseeing or even just a chill out. Local shops are good, you could survive without a trip to a supermarket (although you can order delivery via Tesco direct), and the local bars and restaurants are fine. Particularly Harry's Bar if you want good fresh food and service at a reasonable price, and Mcbride's public house will serve you well with a pint or two, the wood burner made the place as snug as a bug! We will definitely go back to this lovely area of welcome and charm, the only downside for us is that we didn't stay longer, there were eight of us that stayed in the accommodation and we all agreed we could have done a full week as opposed to the long weekend that we booked.

“Brilliant location, quality accomodation and friendly owners - perfect base for 8 friends to explore N. I. coastal area”

Just returned from a long weekend celebrating a friends 50th in the Glendun self catering holiday house. 4 large double bedrooms (all on suite) and a large fully fitted kitchen /lounge area were perfect for 4 couples but would be equally good for families. Ray and Susan (owners of Glendun) were incredibly friendly and on hand to answer any questions we had and also facilitate the booking of taxis.

A car is highly recommended for to get the most out of your stay and see the many local sights, although park up at night and "enjoy the crack"! The local town has a supermarket. off license as well as some traditional Irish bars (which you must visit) as well as good restaurants if you don't want to self cater every night (Taxi to "town" for 8 cost just £7 each way).

We only scratched the surface of what is available and will be returning next year to continue our exploration.

Thanks for your kind review Shell. Our season is calming down and we have had some large groups here and had to use the B&B and self catering both to accommodate them all. Wishing you and your family a great Festive time and hopefully 2014 will be good to us all. Say hello to all the gang for us all at Glendun Self Catering.

“Friendly, spacious with great views”

We had a wonderful 5 days in this cottage, it was a trip of parents, children and grandchild. The owners were very welcoming, helping us with toys etc. for the little one. They even lent me a set of golf clubs for a round at the nearby golf course!

The actual cottage has 4 en-suite rooms which is very unusual in itself and there is a garden at the back for kids to play in, as well as a little covered patio area. The kitchen is fully equipped and is fully adjusted for disabled use as well.

Shops are within a short drive, as is the sea and most of the North coast area within half an hour or so.

All in all a really well maintained cottage, recently built to a high standard and you won't be disappointed if you stay there.

Thank you very much for your kind comments, and are glad that you enjoyed your stay in our cottage and enjoyed the area. The extra money that we spent equipping the property for persons with all levels of living ability's has been well worth it as all persons get to enjoy this beautiful area. You also must of taught my golf clubs some bad habits, as they out of control at the moment or is it just me.
Thanks again.

“Great Place to stay”

We stayed recently for a long weekend to attend a family event and took an extra couple of days to unwind. This is the perfect place to switch off and unwind from the hectic pace of London life. The accommodation is modern and finished to a very high spec, there was nothing we needed during our 4 days as everything had been thought off. The family that run the guest house are friendly and went out of their way to help us and had great suggestions of where to eat and places to see, I would highly recommend this gem of a find and we will certainly be staying again in the future. Thanks Susan & Raymond

I stayed here as part of Annmarie Patton's group during the May Day bank holiday weekend.
The accommodation was excellent- very clean and tidy with lovely furnishings - like a home from home.
The surroundings area beautiful - very serene and tranquil - perfect for a chill out weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city
The owners were very friendly and helpful
I would definitely stay here again
