This property is in a nice location that is generally peaceful on the water. We organised a car from Kolkata through the hotel which was reasonable - the driver on the way there was fine, the one on the way back was crazy. We got moved to the room on second floor facing the water which I think was the more expensive room. The rooms have potential and could have been nice when looked at from a distance in the photos but when it came to the detail - everything was really not very clean nor anywhere near the standard based on what we paid. The place is completely overpriced and if they are going to charge this much then they really need to pay attention to keeping the rooms up to standard - the ceilings had moisture and cracks everywhere, all around powerpoints etc were filthy and hadn't been cleaned, the bathrooms were not clean with the mats on the floor provided being dirty. The sheets were not clean either and lots of bugs in the bed. One just didn't really feel that comfortable in the room nor that it was luxurious. They had a restaurant that has the Bengali food which was very nice quality then they had a restaurant in their hotel that served breakfast, lunch and dinner where the food was extremely average. One day the breakfast was a la carte and this was better than the day with the buffet where again it was very average. The first night there were not many people staying but they didn't put cushions etc out by the pool to sit, the next day was booked by a party so all the cushions etc came out but it was taken over by a party with blaring music and MC all day long, so it wasn't exactly peaceful. The second day we wanted to have breakfast in our room but we were told it was buffet that day. We wanted to sit in the bar but both days were told it was closed and/or the air conditioning was not working. The smell in the rooms was not very fresh due to the air con, it felt musty. The place has lots of potential but it's the attention to detail that falls down when it comes to paying this price compared to many other places we have stayed in India. The price of drinks are also quite excessive. There just isn't much competition at the moment for quiet places around Kolkata which is why they are probably still doing fine. They have a resort nearby in the fort which looked really bad quality when we went to have a look around, and it was very empty. If one doesn't have a room directly looking onto the water I am not sure why one would stay here, but it's nice to have a few days away from Kolkata somewhere a bit more peaceful.
