This property is in a nice location that is generally peaceful on the water. We organised a car from Kolkata through the hotel which was reasonable - the driver on the way there was fine, the one on the way back was crazy. We got moved to the room on second floor facing the water which I think was the more expensive room. The rooms have potential and could have been nice when looked at from a distance in the photos but when it came to the detail - everything was really not very clean nor anywhere near the standard based on what we paid. The place is completely overpriced and if they are going to charge this much then they really need to pay attention to keeping the rooms up to standard - the ceilings had moisture and cracks everywhere, all around powerpoints etc were filthy and hadn't been cleaned, the bathrooms were not clean with the mats on the floor provided being dirty. The sheets were not clean either and lots of bugs in the bed. One just didn't really feel that comfortable in the room nor that it was luxurious. They had a restaurant that has the Bengali food which was very nice quality then they had a restaurant in their hotel that served breakfast, lunch and dinner where the food was extremely average. One day the breakfast was a la carte and this was better than the day with the buffet where again it was very average. The first night there were not many people staying but they didn't put cushions etc out by the pool to sit, the next day was booked by a party so all the cushions etc came out but it was taken over by a party with blaring music and MC all day long, so it wasn't exactly peaceful. The second day we wanted to have breakfast in our room but we were told it was buffet that day. We wanted to sit in the bar but both days were told it was closed and/or the air conditioning was not working. The smell in the rooms was not very fresh due to the air con, it felt musty. The place has lots of potential but it's the attention to detail that falls down when it comes to paying this price compared to many other places we have stayed in India. The price of drinks are also quite excessive. There just isn't much competition at the moment for quiet places around Kolkata which is why they are probably still doing fine. They have a resort nearby in the fort which looked really bad quality when we went to have a look around, and it was very empty. If one doesn't have a room directly looking onto the water I am not sure why one would stay here, but it's nice to have a few days away from Kolkata somewhere a bit more peaceful.

We had stayed at the Sundaravasala property for 1 night with a group of friends with kids. While we did like the overall stay, the rooms itself seemed very stuffy due to the damp smell and low lighting. The 2 Infinity Swimming Pools were simply amazing. Food though seemed overpriced.

Great place for weekend get away from Kolkata. Pricey and very High end. Great Service and good food option. Greet place to relax. We had the room on first floor with awesome view of the river from the rooms balcony. The room had a very unique bathroom with full Glass wall that overlook the river. Great place and highly recommended for couple who want few days of peace and relaxation I'm lap of luxury.

I had stayed there for 2 nights. The hotel really delivers what they promise. The food option was good. The staffs are very friendly and are always there to assist you. Very good ambience but wish the price was a bit lower. I had a good experience. its a very good break from Kolkata.

Ganga Kutir is part of the greater Ffort Radison property and is situated at the confluence of the mighty river and small channel on its side. Hence having water on both sides, the chances of you having a river view from your room is exceptional.

The place has no external attractions apart from the river and the resort makes the most of it. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. You get excellent views out of the bay windows and is big enough to fit a full grown adult. All requisite amenities are present (except bathtub) and the service is excellent.

The in-house restaurant is exceptionally good with the continental dishes requiring special mention. Also try out the 'dab chingri' which I found to be superb.

Children activities are missing at the resort and you will have to take a golf cart to nearby Ffort Radison to enjoy some of the activities (carrom, table tennis, billard etc.). The spa is also a little distance away.

So if you want to get away for a weekend from the busy life of the city and need a place to contemplate and just lay down.. would highly recommend this place. You do have internet connectivity (in the library) and data card works, you get two newspapers (Telegraph, TOI) and cable has all the channels but you will not have time for them as you will be busy viewing the river flow by your room window.

Room Tip: Take first floor rooms and request the corner room if available.

This place is the best resort you will find in and around kolkata. if you are looking for a weekend getaway, it cannot get better than this. the view from the pool is brilliant.
They dont have any activities, but if you are looking for a weekend of fun, away from the hustle bustle of the city its perfect.
