Went to Digha during May'11 and due to last moment booking could find room in Hotel Sea Coast, which we booked instantly. The room charge is high as compared to other neaby hotels and hence our expectation was high. when we reached, we found that the hotel is near the beach and felt happy. The rooms were Ok, but the service was below par...you have to wait for a long time, after which the room service guy appears. The resturant has a bar and hence the food charge is also very high (through the food quality is good). hence we used to have lunch and differ from a different hotel from the 2nd day. They had a greenery inside the hotel compound and few indoor games which the young kids had a great time.

This hotel lacks almost everything a hotel should have - it didnot have a lift, room service was bad to the extent of the bellboy telling me 4 times on the flight of stairs how he was expecting me give him a large tip, rooms were outright dirty (there were cobwebs in the room, sand in the coridoors) and the restaurant food was not only overpriced but plainly unpalatable. The bell boys were hardly available when called for.

AC was not working, which was repaired post a complain though. The tariff far exceeds what can be considered a value for money

A positive part was that it was around 5 minutes walk to the sea embankments.

Room Tip: I would recommend that one carries a broom and dust pan along with them, so that they can atleast cl...

i had read reviews of this site and selected this hotel.ill make the review short and sweet
advantages
1)some rooms have sea facing views but you must be specific on what you want @ booking office
2)the sea shore is just on the other side of the boundary wall
3)service is more or less ok eg food from restaurant will reach you in 30 minutes
4)have a good car service---ask for goutam..latest charge (talsari,madarmoni,tajpur,sankarpur,chandaneshwar temple,udaipur) non a/c alto 1300/- (+tips) a/c is 1700.we didnt need the a/c and it was very comfortable.journey is best from 6am to 10am..then again 3pm to 7 pm.driver is very competent (name pintu)
5)the have invested a bit into gardens..so looks quite nice

now the disadvantages
1)waiters ask for tips for every visit to the room and will HOUND you for tips.
2)food seriously overpriced.
3)i found the crowd a bid rowdy with drunken shouts in the night..the hotel did nothing about it in my knowledge
4)no lift
5)room was ok..but water jug broken..tv remote back cover broken,a/c remote didnt work too well i suspect, tv too small, averagely maintained room..i suspect cheaper rooms are not clean at all (took a quick look at an empty room)

At first look i thought this might be the best bet in Digha - after all i was going for my first vacation since April 2010. The hotel pictures looked wonderful... Mr. Sayantan Bag (the manager) too seemed very pleasant and friendly! No wonder the hotel turned out to be total crap!

I had booked 2 rooms for three days (one Top floor Semi-Deluxe @ Rs. 2500 and one Standard AC @ Rs. 2000) by paying an advance of Rs. 5000. I was promised that it was a Sea-side hotel and my booked rooms would have direct sea view. But i had forgotten that all promises were meant to be broken...

I walked in to the hotel with a long face and the rooms with even a longer face. Then i decided that if i stayed at that hotel a minute further i would have gone crazy!

Off course after checking-in there was no way Mr. Sayantan Bag would have given me a refund. I had just wasted Rs. 5000 on two rooms in which we had stayed even less than 15 mins....

So, my advice here would be "NEVER NEVER WASTE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR VACATION BY BOOKING A ROOM AT THIS HOTEL... YOU MIGHT AS WELL HELP THE POOR AND NEEDY BY DONATING THEM FOOD AND CLOTHES"

Room Tip: There is none as such!

The hotel is ok kind of a place. Sea is very near to the hotel

I was there along with my family for 2 nights and 3 days. We booked two rooms. The rooms are not so clean.
The food was compulsory with the room on additional payment.

Service & Quality of food is so so.

We booked this hotel based on reviews. Don't stay @this hotel. In new digha you can stay @ Roofers Pearl & Old digha u can stay @ Hotel Aditya International.
Room service is good @sea coast, but maintained is very bad. Wash rooms are bad. With this budget you can stay other hotel

Stayed for 3 nights at Sea Coast with my wife and kid.Took the Deluxe sea facing room-it was HUGE!Digha has a peculiar problem-the hotels which have modern facilities are not situated very near the sea and the hotels which Are close, have less than desirable overall quality.I wanted to stay in a hotel with a sea view.Taking tips from Tripadvisor i zeroed in on this hotel.Bad points-the hotel is slightly old and it shows in the room although to the extent of being bearable.I found the bathroom cleaning routine to be irregular-being skipped at times. The food menu is limited but livable and cost slightly on the higher side-200/- with taxes for a regular chicken dish. The good points-service staff were eager in service, the room had a good sea view and the hotel was situated very close to the sea.Never had a problem with the quality of food although i'd suggest you specify how spicy you like it or it gets hot!The hotel has a lawn and security for parking which makes life easier.Overall i enjoyed the stay and if you just time travelled to now from the 80's,you'll love it!

Room Tip: Deluxe room is huge, has very effecive ACs,sea view
