Wildrift Adventures - Camp Purple Mukteshwar
Reviewed March 4, 2014

Visited this place as part of last bachelor trip with my college group. Though the location of the camp was not as expected, it is just hill facing and no ice caped mountains directly visible from the camp. But the activities available at the camp were really awesome. They have volleyball/basketball court, archery, rappelling, rock climbing etc facilities available. If in a group, you can really have a wonderful time. Food was good and staff is very polite and well behaved.

Room Tip: Choose camps with beds and not the one with mattress on the floor

the tents themselves were relatively comfortable, but the best things abt camp purple were
1) the kind, helpful and welcoming staff. one of our travellers got sick but the staff went out of their way to help them out.
2) the brilliant adventure activities for those who love them.
3) a nice basketball court with lovely views of the mountainside
4) the fruit trees which were in full bloom and which made the place gorgeous.
the only negative point was that the toilets were quite far away from the tents themselves.
but for those who are not used to camping, there is a small B&B very close to the camp where there are good facilities.
overall a nice experience.

One thing you would certainly end up doing once you reach this place, is relaxing and sipping through your cup of tea looking at the amazing view of mountains which spans across 180 Degrees. The camp is situated at a location which simply said is spectacular.
I have been to this property around 4 - 5 times and can go there again.

The camps are very basic, the camp has common toilets which mean you have to walk across the lanes surrounded by flowers to reach, which I don't mind as I like staying in camps, The toilets even though are common there are 10 - 15 of them and are very hygienic and has 24 hrs running water.

The staff there are very well trained and are very soft spoken and will do everything to make you feel comfortable. The place has a common dinning are, which also has a bonfire place. The food is again simple but awesome. The whole camps is surrounded by green trees flowers plants etc. The camps has cemented base, and camp beds with mattress and quilts, so you are sorted.

They also have a cemented basket ball court where you can also play volleyball, so pretty good for college and corporate groups. We played with the staff in the evening and it was real fun.

Its a place one should go at least once to experience a different kind of holiday.

Room Tip: All camps are similar, get a camp which has a uninterrupted view of the mountains

I visited Camp Purple with my friends in the summer months to escape Delhi weather. It was an excellent choice. Camp Purple offers amazing views, and a lot of adventure activities. We tried rappelling, mountain climbing, treasure hunt organized by the camp in a nearby village, followed by lunch in the villagers home and night jungle trek. They also have flying fox, basketball, archery etc. Even if you do not want to take part in any of these activities, it is a really nice place to just sit and watch the sky turning different colors during sunset, or have a bonfire with friends and hear interesting stories from the camp boys. The people working there are all from the nearby villages and they will pay personal attention. The tents are okay, and the beds are okay considering that you are staying in a camp. The makeshift bathrooms were clean. The food is good too.

I stayed there with my friends and family in the camp purple in Oct 2012. It was a fantastic stay of 2 nights and three days. The camp served locally grown organic food for each meal. The camp is child friendly and very neat and clean. If you want to experience a life away from the hustle bustle of the city and rural, this is the place to be. My first hand experience of living without electricity and only with solar lanterns, viewing the clear night sky full of starts and breathing clean air and drinking fresh water from the waterfall. Amazing experience for city dwellers.

Room Tip: There is a lodge called somerset lodge nearby so if one is not keen on camping then can stay in this...

Mukteshwar is an 'off the beaten track' location which gives it a real adventurous feel. We stayed at Camp Purple in Mukteshwar and enjoyed the tented accomodation, lantern lighting and the home cooked food along with rappeling and rock climbing activities making it a great weekend trip.
