“Heart of Nature”
Reviewed June 7, 2009

This resort is located in the very heart of nature. Without much civilzation around, except for a couple of other hotels. What was most attractive to me about the hotel was that its environment-friendly, and at the same time didnt lack any necessities. Its quaint cottage structure didn't stick out like a sore thumb on the mountain side.
There were beautiful flower lined pathways, and fruit laden trees. since it is located on the ridge of the mountain, one can view the sunrise on the mountains right outside the rooms, and the sunset is only a short walk away.
The small size of the hotel and friendly staff made our stay very enjoyable. And to entertain those easily bored teenagers [like my borther] they have a game room and a well-stocked library. There is also a play area for younger children.
Over-all I had a very enjoyable stay, and I really appreciated the peace and quiet, which I didnt get in Nainital.

This rsort was an experience which we were not prepared for.... amidst pure jungle comes this resort with a fresh air of warmth and great set of staff members and one of the greatest chocolate house, yes, chocolate house...i have never ever tasted chocolate better than the one produced in this hotel by the hotel owner and his wife..... the chocolate fudge is ready to beat the best in the world.... the service with a smile was like a patent of this resort. The only drawback was the room facilities which were not particularly great but going by the rest of the aura of the place, we were happy to forget and forgive the little drawback of the place..., i recommend this place hugely to all....

Great place.
Neat and clean
Independent cottages.
Quite place.
Nice quaint library.
Is a bit of a distance from Mukteshwar so it makes sense to have your own vehicle.
Food isnt gourmet but is good enough.
MUST VISIT - Sunset point behind the hotel and have herbal tea and organic pakodas at Madhuban , and a long chat with the prop Mr. Bisht,
Muketshwar is a amazing place very peaceful . The view from the Govt guest house is spellbinding. There is a quaint temple with a Begali "baba" whos always smiling. The post office is a absolute delight , one of the prettiest ive ever come across.

The hotel was very comfortable and cosy with easy access to everything. The measures taken to conserve the environment, which is the need of the hour, are appreciable and encourage everyone visiting the hotel to become eco friendly. The location was excellent. The view of sunrise from the rooms and the machan was magnificent. When the sky was clear, we could see the snow clad Himalayan mountains right from the hotel! The service was good and everybody took care of our special demands- be it the less masala food or the lukewarm milk. Our recreation was also taken care of by the library and the club. Being with nature in a nature friendly place was really relaxing. It was a well deserved vacation after a long time of hard work.

I and my 2 friends booked this hotel because we really wanted to get away from our hectic routine at work. We wanted to choose a place where the internet is not easily accessible, so that we could bid goodbye to our laptops for sometime.... i think going to Mountain Trail in a quaint little town in Uttranchal called Mukteshwar was definitely a rejuvenating experience for us. Though the amenities cannot be called as STAR amenities and we do understand the challenges of the weather at 8000ft in the month of December but the services given under these challenges were really commendable.

The food served had a freshness and taste parallel to both i.e. homefood or cooked in the hygienical conditions of 5 stars.... it was awesome.

The daily provisions at the hotel were personally supervised by the resort manager and we were very pleasantly surprised to see that whether occupied or not - each room was being aired and cleaned every morning and evening.....

We will not forget easily the beautiful jungle and waterfall treks that the staff took us to...complete with the lunch hampers and hot cocoa milk in the accompanying thermos.

The changing looks of the valley - A good range of himalayas from the hotel was a treat to the eyes early morning...before the haze covered it as the day progressed. Sipping tea, sitting in the glass balcony of my room, and admiring the mother nature was so refreshing that on the first day i didnt realise that i sat in that position for 2 hours at a stretch... the afternoon had a different treat in store for us - the valley was full of clouds and it felt as if tonnes of cotton was spread over the beautiful green mountains...

We would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone who loves nature, wants to relax, and wants to eat and chill should go to Mountain Trail and get fresh to deal with the self-inflicted challenges of the urban life...

Three cheers to the entire Mountain Trail team and management....
