“Simply Wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2009

I had the best hospitality experience at this hotel.
This hotel is perfect in all respects. Right from the managers to the Sheff to the room service staff. Its simple wonderful.
Like every Club Mahindra resort even this resort is secluded away from the main town.
you have to pass through Almora to reach this resort. The journey could be physically demanding, and I would suggest have light food before the journey as the roads are winding and there is hardly any tar on these roads. The travel experience is superb as the road leads through thick pine jungle. We had our share of badluck as our cars Tyre went flat and even the spare didn't have any tube. So do check you car before you travel because there is nothing on the road that could help you out. Also carry a sweater as the weather can change anytime. In April I didn't expect any rains in Almora, but during our journey the clouds gathered from some where and it started raining and the temperature dropped massivly.
So with flat type and rain and cold breeze we were strangled luckily just 2 km from the hotel. I called the hotel for a rescue but before they could send us a car, like in movies we decided to go all James Bond with the vehicle. We reached the hotel with a flat type with virtually no rubber on it.
The security guy saw our condition and ran to give us some umbrellas. (Yellow umbrellas with Club Mahindra written on it)
We reached the reception and I had booked a one bedroom apt. They promptly without any hassle gave us a room. So with umbrellas and trembling with the cold wind we reached the room. This room was somewhere at the corner of the room. After settling down I asked the manager to provide us with a room with a better view. He assured me that he will once there is a vacancy. Luckily the room that got vacant was a studio apt but with the best view. He asked me if I would sacrifice the one bedroom apt for a studio one. Which I was ready to do since the view was overwhelming. So other than the rain rest all was in order. The next day when the clouds vanished, the view around the hotel was so amazing that one cannot explain it in words.

The prompt response from the management and the location and the staffs humble nature overwhelmed me. I give this resort a 7 star rating for its hospitality...
The food at the hotel is also good considering its remote location. Even the travel desk will try to help you in all respects. This hotel has no swimming pool and to be frank it doesn't require one either. When you would go there don't forget to check out various different types of birds and butterflies which feast on the various beautiful flowers in the premises.
Overall I had a wonderful experience in the hotel.

Valley Resort, Binsar is one of the best mid size resorts offered by Club Mahindra. It is situated in Uttarakhand state, and easily accessible from Delhi and on regular tourist circuit like Nanital. Resort has well equipped 32 cottages. We fell in love when we saw beautiful long winding road from reception to the main body of resort. Cottages colored in light green with sloping roof and greenery all around, it was a scenic location all along.

We got a place which was on first floor, with overall structure of G+2. We liked the idea that all the cottages are facing to valley so that you don’t have to look for a particular cottage for valley view. A small balcony with enough space for three chairs and a table served as space for breakfast and evening snacks.

Facilities at resort include a club room with indoor game facilities, trekking / adventure sports and outdoor activities. We participated in one of the short walk / trek along the Binsar main road. We also enjoyed some good indoor game with other member families, in particular hand football and snooker. They have some nice, light activities to keep children busy for the afternoon and my daughter did participate in some of the activities.

The restaurant called “Bird Song” served some nice dishes; the live counters had some tasty offerings. Since our visit was in August, temperature was low which helped us in enjoying hot snacks like pakora, onion rings served at the make shift counter on lawn during afternoons.

We took a small excursion (approx. 70 km from resort) to an ancient Shiva temple, Jageshwar. It has one of the 12 Jyotirlings. Apart from religious importance, place was also nice, at quite a bit of higher terrain. Resort also offer other tours, but we thought better to relax at resort.

Property has been well maintained, decorated with nice stone and wooden carvings here and there. Staff is efficient, helpful and friendly. We stayed there for six days, and overall it was really enjoyable. For members obviously there is no charge, non members are charged per day at Rs.3500 to 4000 approx.

We are the members of Club Mahindra and always had good holidays with them. But our stay at this hotel was nothing short of miserable. While all is good about Binsar as destination but the hotel itself is about 20 km away from the main Binsar Sanctuary and 12 km from the Binsar high mound, right in the lap of the valley which makes it terribly hot. The hotel is right on the Bageshwar highway so you have constant honking of vehicles right from 5 in the morning till late in the night. While there are no complaints about the service standards as that is same at their hotels, which is very good. But for us travelling from Mumbai to Binsar which is about 2000 km was not to sit inside the rooms with water coolers being deployed to counter the hot summer. As per residents of 'Basodi' village (where the property is actually based) the valley is always hot in summer while the Binsar Sanctaury (where we shifted) is the place to be. So definitely don't stay at this hotel in summer.

Decent facilities overall, well laid out in a valley below Binsar. The setting is quite picturesque, and the landscaping etc. was quite nice. The rooms are spacious, with a mini-kitchen (but somewhat less equipped than we'd expected). The complex has just one restaurant, with not a whole lot of choice in food. The staff was quite accommodating and helpful. We were travelling with a 9-month-old baby, and they helped by entertaining the kid, allowing us to have nice leisurely meals (after 9 months!).

The hotel is situated in a valley, while Binsar itself is way up, high in the mountains above, floating in the clouds! Binsar itself had nicer cooler weather, as a result.

We stayed for about 4 nights, and enjoyed the stay overall.

I would say this is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in on holiday and I am extremely unforgetable from whole atmosphere and surrounding. It is live in my life. Snow mountain visible from the hotel premises, never I can forget.

The resort is surrounded by hills and gives a very clam environment during night. It is worth mentioning that, during night, one should stand in Balcony and view and listen the silence of night in hills of Uttrakhand. Early morning sunrise gives an excellent feeling and raises one's mood to enjoy the hills and environment.

Resort is nicely situated. One need to be a trained driver to drive in steep hills. It takes almost 10 to 12 hours to reach Binsar from Delhi by Car.

Resort staff is well trained and courteous. We stayed for 3 days and abolutely no doubt on place and location. Worth visiting for relaxing in peaceful lap of natural beauty.
