GRT was recommended to us by a close friend - who was a part of our travel group. We were 4 families with small kids looking to spend some quality time together. GRT gave us all opportunities to do so - and more!
We took the villas accomodation for 2 nights. The piece de resistance was an outdoor bathroom in each villa! The beach was less than 15 mts away. The beach felt like private property because it was cordoned off on one end by the Shore temple and the other end was difficult to get to from the main road. We had the pristine beach to ourselves.
The service was also not bad - considering the size of the property. The staff was especially child friendly. We enjoyed our stay at GRT Temple Bay.

It was a chance trip to this temple town and again we chanced upon this property - GRT.

The entrance and the lobby are quite impressive. Since we didnt know that GRT was a big jeweller of Chennai, we decided to look at the rooms first and then decide to check in- the old desi style

The hotel, as we saw is divided into 4 parts, firstly, one main building which have lot of rooms on a few floors, here all the rooms dont have the sea view, secondly, duplex building with studio setup with good sea view, thirdly duplex building with no view and lastly and the best ones are right infront of the sea - no doubt they are the best.

We stayed in a standalone studio villa kind of a setup. In the room, the king size bed was fab, a swing chair in the porch. the decor of the room was more than expected and was really of high standard though the internet would hardly work.
The maintenance guy could hardly fix the internet issue.
the best part was also a fabulous bathroom with state of the art shower - the vertical and horizontal shower unit of a mnc company
the food was good, we ordered room service.
Outside the pool seemed good, we couldnt jump in.

The water was quite rough on the day we checked in and the safety flags were fluttering advising the beach goers. they have a decent private beach.

The worst part of the property was that on that weekend , during lunch time all the tourist crowd of mahabalipuram seemed to have arrived to have the good lunch at GRT.
We had to fight for place to stand !!!!
All in all, our stay in GRT does go down well as a well spent holiday

A place we visit as a family when ever we want a break from the hussle busstle of the city and every day work . We first located this place when I was deputed to Chennai. The first time we visited this place, my wife just fell in love with the hotel. This was way back in 2005. I was in Chennai for 2 years or so and we have visited this place so many times have lost count. Though we have shifted back to Mumbai we still ry and make a visit here when ever possible.
The villas in this hotel are the best. The room faces the Bay of bengal. The villas are so close to the beach the sound of the waves is all that you hear and its just heavenly. It was a small property with 70 odd rooms till 3 months back. We realised it has changed to 140 rooms when we visited this place last month. It was a shock for us as it had expanded so much ,the cosy feeling we used to get was lost but still we found comfort in the familiar villa we stayed in , and stay in during all our visits. The teething problems of expanding is on but still will recommend this place to any one who want a break and loves the beach.

My family and I visited GRT Temple Bay in April of 2007 for the weekend. We were given excellent rooms with a beautiful sea-view. The rooms were tasteful but not luxurious. The landscape and pool were fabulous and the food was excellent. Their service was very good and the staff were very friendly. The best part is that it is the only resort that's within walking distance of the historic sites.

Ideally located on the shores of Bay of Bengal, the Hotel provided an ideal location for a Holiday. Our collegues from outside inida liked the Hotel so much that the Business Convention was totally disrupted and became a Holiday trip . Lush green lawns, the hammocks on the shore for a lazy afternoon, the spacious rooms , the best of the South india food , proximity to the heritage sites that are more than 1800 years old, all added to a memorable stay .

I've stayed at the GRT Temple Bay several times over the last few years.

It's a very good resort.

They have enough activities too keep young kids occupied whilst at the same time enough secluded cottages / chalets for the honeymooners.

The foods above average.

I've not used the spa but have heard it's a decent spa.

There's enough local tourist spots within walking and driving distance to keep one occupied.

The prupose was a get together with good old friends and the place GRT temple bay. It couldn't have been better than this. The smell of the sea and the mesmerising sound of the violent waves makes the place a bet for one who really looks to unwind oneself from the hussles of the city life.

The spacious rooms and the well mannered staff are additional points that makes one love it.
