“Nice place to relax!!!”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

First off they have a wonderful location right next to monument. You feel really relaxed upon entering the resort itself a wonderful stress-free environment. The checkin was really quick, and the staffs here are really friendly. The rooms are really good offers a fantastic view of the ocean, the beach and not to forget the massive pool, seems to be the biggest in the coast.
There are a lot of activities for the whole family in this place they can arrange many sea activities for the adults and the beach itself is amazingly clean away from the crowed area of the town.
Even though the room-service was a bit slow, the food here is exceptionally good, the breakfast offers a wide spread of continental dishes. The bar is quite small but it the outdoor sitting area is better overlooking the pool.
The new spa which has been recently renovated is excellent it is right before the beach and
treatment was not bad at all.
Overall the experience was really worth the money and time had a great weekend, I suggest you go if you want a peaceful time.

Room Tip: Take the Cottages if not the Sea Facing rooms Its definitely Worth it..

A long awaited trip to Chariot beach resort in Mahabalipuram was not such a great experience. To begin the check-in procedure was very smooth and we where quickly ferried out to our small cottages. The cottages were quite nice and we were pleased to see an outdoor shower, however the air-conditioning in the rooms was very bad which practically ruined the experience. The service in the restaurant was extremely slow and the breakfast buffet was sub-standard.

The hotel is tucked away almost deceptively behind beautiful and timeless monuments. In fact, as the car gets into the approach road through the monument spot, the parking attendant always waves you into the monument's car park. You have to then explain that you are going to 'chariots' and have not come to see the ancient sculptures.

As you turn into the resort portico you are greeted by a spacious lobby, manned by a lonely front office person who looks like a trainee. After the check in formalities the concierge who also looks like a trainee leads you to the room. Quite spacious, well laid out, comfortingly clean linen. There is cheerful looking standee on the beside table expressing the hotel's 'delight' at offering you a platter of fresh cut fruit. After many attempts and then contacting the operator you manage to reach room service and request for a platter only to be summarily told, "it is chargeable". You ask, "if that is the case why is it not simply offered on the menu? Why is is announced so specially?" The trainee at the other end has no answer, just a mumbled, 'sorry . . . .'. After a long journey, you are tired. The menu offers dosa from 3 pm to 7 pm. You order a dosa. The same trainee again. 'No dosa, sir'. "Why, it's on the menu", you say. 'Today the South Indian chef has not come', the trainee mumbles. You give up and order a sandwich.

You have a programme tomorrow and want to see the banquet space. From here on, it is a totally different experience.

The banquet staff, most of whom also look like trainees, is headed by one of the most customer-oriented, positive, and dependable professionals that I have come across in nearly 2 decades of dealing with banquet staff. Outstanding banquet service from start to finish, over 2 days of intense workshops calling for constant and demanding support in arranging and re-arranging the space.

It is time for food and you go to the restaurant. Relaxed and spacious dining area. Good spread and well made food. To my surprise , here again, the man in charge is that one professional.

I ask him, are you the person running the whole show?

Overall, a good experience barring a few glitches. With adequate staffing to support the one professional that I met, this could well be a great place for a holiday. Great location, good structure, comfortable rooms, simple but pleasing food, good pool, and a beautiful and very popular tourist spot within walking distance.

Room Tip: Great place for conferences or for relaxed holidays where you are not in a hurry.

Services were very bad, frequent black outs, not even half of what is mentioned on the web page is available above all no hot water in the taps.I am a doctor by profession and went there to a attend a conference at a nearby hotel.Staff mock at women,no one accepts any complaints given and trouble you in case one requests for services.I have been to several resorts and hotels in several countries but this was the worst experience,i felt very insulted by the staff there.I went with my aunt and as we were 2 ladies they mocked each time we requested for services like in room dining or any help from housekeeping.

A quite couple of days at this resort. Thanks for the room up grade and to all the staff who went that extra mile. Complementary soup and dosa from the restaurant and free late check out which was much appreciated. This place has a great pool and a short stroll from the beach not sure where the 1 km comment from a previous reviewer came from. Well appointed rooms but the garden needs a bit more care and attention for the star rating.
