This is a traveller oriented hotel with a friendly atmosphere, helpful staff with a very pleasant restaurant and an open eating area with a great view (clouds permitting). Convenient location for some nice walks. 5 stars for the opportunity to check in on a laptop!

I had telephonically confirmed my reservations with the hotel for 2 deluxe rooms for the 21st and 22nd April 2011.Midway of my journey i received a call from the Hotel that since there was a communication gap between the the room booking manager and the owner, our rooms were booked for some other guests by the owner. That's outageous.still we checked into another hotel without raking the issue. The hotel owner Mr Deepesh seemed to be the most discourteous person and seemed non-apolegetic for his hotel's mistake.
That very night as per Lonely Planets recommendation,I took my family for a dinner to the hotel. The waiter by the name of Mr.John was the most rude waiter ever i have seen in my whole travelling experience spanning within india and abroad. The orders were slow and when we ordered for Chicken Chinese curry(It was the curry version of Chilly chicken !)another dish sikkimes chinese curry contained pieces of Fish in the dish.Again on complaining about the food to Mr.Deepesh ha seemed again unmoved and unapologetic of the inconvinience caused to us.
I feel Lonely planet and your website should re-review the hotel for its management and mannerism.Simply having a fab location and great Infrastructure won't make the stay comfortable

Good food, good service, manager very helpful. Room pretty clean, and hot water available when power is available in the town. Good rooftop seating area to eat in the sun. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

Room Tip: First hotel as you arrive in town.

good value hotel for Pelling. 450 Indian rupees a night for room with view from window of mountains, cable TV and western ensuite bathroom. room was basic, but all that was needed was there - even had hot water. the mountain views from balcony restaurant on top are amazing. the hotel is the first on your left as you enter Pelling, other small restaurants, giftshops, convenience store, internet cafe within short walking distance. can also walk to the main monastery and Rabentse ruins from here (20-40 mins)

Had a lovely stay at Kabur ! The hotel staff are ridiculously sweet and courteous. Esp the twin brother managers Dipesh and Dipen. Try and stay in the rooms with the common balcony, as the view are fab. The outdoor patio is also a wonderful place to take in your breakfast viewing the mountains.

Kabur is the first hotel you will encounter, when you enter town. Remember that the hotels in upper Pelling have the best views. The Elgin Pandim has the best views handsdown, but is priced 10 times the room rates at Kabur. Its also a 3 Km walk to the Pemayangste gompa and just a short walk to the town.

Food at Kabur is excellent, though it does take a while to come by. So order in earlier just in case.

The rooms are basic, but clean. The electricals can go with a bit of re-furbishing. But overall at Rs500 odd a night, with such a view is a steal steal steal !!!
